Sa Bai Thong on the west side has been a staple for me for almost a decade because they consistently deliver top-quality Thai cuisine. Their toong thong appetizer is a standout, reminiscent of a Thai twist on samosas, and their Ka-Ree curry is an absolute must-try for its melt-in-your-mouth potatoes. Service is always friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall enjoyable experience at this gem of a restaurant.

Went there during the week about 20 minutes before they stopped serving lunch. I asked them if they were still serving lunch & they said yes. Once we were sat down, I could tell that the server was annoyed that we came at that time. No one else was in the restaurant & I found the server to be extremely rude. Didn't say a word after I thanked him for bringing us our food. I felt like they did not want us there at all. Not surprisingly, I did not tip them anything. Great food, but their service is terrible. Would not go their again!

Our waitress was INCREDIBLY snotty. I ordered pork larb and it's supposed to be spicy. It comes to me with a mountain of chili flakes on top instead of it being cooked in. (I can make it) That alone, ruined the food. It didn't come with rice, so I had to pay extra for that. It also didn't come with lettuce except for a greasy, soggy piece underneath the meat. (It is a SALAD. It is SUPPOSED to come with lettuce, other wise I would just be eating a plate of meat!) I asked the waitress for lettuce and she acted like it was the most outrageous, unusual demand ever. Her attitude was condescending and horrible. She comes back and tells me I need to pay THREE DOLLARS for lettuce. By this time, I'm so mad but I just wanted to eat my meal. My "extra veggies" were three tall, but slender pieces and some cucumbers.

They had NO soap in the bathroom, so I'm left wondering if the wait staff doesn't wash their hands after using the toilet.

Overall, this place used to be fantastic three years ago. But, I will never go again and I STRONGLY do not recommend this place unless you're going for an over priced, Thai-novelty feel.

Undoubtedly the best Thai food in Madison, and perhaps the state. Between my friends and I, we've tried around 65 to 75 % of the large menu and have never been disappointed. The service varies, sometimes it can be a little slow, but is always friendly and accurate. Plus, the atmosphere is pretty and peaceful. This is the only place to go if you want Thai food.
