First off, I'm from Texas. I know BBQ. I've been to several BBQ competitions that pit Tennesse, Texas, Georgia and the Carolinas against each other. That is the best BBQ in the world. Smokey John's is as close to that as you're gonna get without crossing the Mason Dixon. The food is fresh, succulent and fatty. The sauce is damn good for being Wisconsin made and the service is what you'd expect from a small BBQ joint. They take your order, they give you the order, they keep to themselves. If you want socializing, go to Olive Garden. Smokey John's is the best BBQ you will find in Madison, hands down.

I see them named "Best in Madison" but I thought the food was mediocre and overpriced. And the service was unfriendly and uncaring.
