Was told through the grapevine that the inside was remodeled and the menu had changed. Went in to eat and the food was outstanding. They even have a chef now. Bar staff could be a little less talkative and pay more attention to paying customers.

Went to The Local Tavern on Saturday, February 20th for a late lunch. Not many people were there but the tables were all dirty so we sat at the bar. We were immediately told they had no bacon left. Good to know. So we ordered gumbo and a burger. The gumbo came out in about 10 minutes. And then we waited another 30 for the burger. While we waited, at least one other group left and canceled their order because it was taking too long. By that time we were going to be late for our workshop so we asked for it to go. When we got to our workshop and started to eat the burger, it was totally raw inside. As if they had just thrown it on the grill when we asked to get it to go.

We heard the bartender tell what sounded like a regular that this was an unusual Saturday for them. But they are right by a conference center and today was Winter Fest downtown. That is just horrible preparation for how many more people were downtown than might usually be. But again, it was NOT busy at all when we were there. The bartender did adjust our bill so we didn't pay as much. So she knew we were having a bad experience.

Went there for the $2.00 Tuesday Burger lunch special and I can't imagine it was the same size burger they would normally serve off the menu. It was the size of a hockey buck and half the size of the bun. I bet the bun weighed twice as much as the meat at least.

I asked for no onions and it came with onions all the same.

The tomato slices were pitifully small and were not even big enough to cover the small burger ~ I literally laughed when I saw them.

I sat at the bar and the woman tending/serving me never once asked me if my meal was OK, yet she stood right in front of me doing some stretching exercises... yes, stretching exercises.

One waitress was playing a old school video game in the corner of the bar and the manager had to come over and ask her to go wait on her tables ~ another good laugh.

The kettle chips that came with the meal were fine and it was a generous portion.

My advice... go to the "Old Fashion", "Paradise", "Nick's" or "Chophouse" if you want good food and service.

The pub burder is great and a good deal!

This was by far the worst dining experience of my life. The staff was terrible and blamed us for their inability to handle four tables on a Friday night. In addition, the food is mediocre at best and the drinks are expensive considering they are filled to the brim with ice and barely, if any, liquor.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon in October, and the place was very hot. Asked if the ceiling fans could be turned on, it took about ten minutes. The food was average, my son said it was the worst burger he ever had though. Service was slower and the place was dirty. Large cobweb on the light fixture next to our table. I'm glad I didn't see that before I ate. I wouldn't recoomend, but for a drink only.

Great atmosphere and a great bar. Good prices too.

However, the meal we had there was terrible. Ordered the ribs and they were some of the worst I could image. I had a sore stomach all night from them. While I bet they would be good if cooked fresh, they tasted as it they were sitting on the kitchen counter for a week. Adding to the age of the meal was stale cornbread and beans that tasted as if they were lost in my refrigerator at home for a month.

On positive note, the coleslaw was good. but seriously, 15 bucks for good cole slaw and old food? Avoid this place.
