We were vacationing in Jackson Hole and went to Teton Thai in Teton Village. The guy seemed nice at first and showed us to a table. It was a very basic decor but we had just got engaged that afternoon and were on a high. We were enjoying the amazingly friendly and laid back attitudes of everyone we met in Jackson Hole (since we are from a big city). In contrast, the waitress at Teton Thai was laid back but far from friendly. She was dismissive from the start, sneering and condescending. She gave us our food without napkins or utensils and went back to the bar where she was sat talking and on her cell phone. When my fiance's Pad Thai arrived, it was so spicy, it was inedible, his throat was burning. I'm from Singapore and have been to Thailand many times, so I can tolerate spicy food but it was really hot. We asked politely if it could be toned down. The waitress said "no", they don't do that and they don't re-make dishes. She said we had to buy another. I said, "OK" but my fiance wasn't happy and said he would probably just leave it. At that, the guy came over and said we could either take it to go or just accept it. Things deteriorated quickly after this. I told him that the food was good, although one dish was too spicy, but the waitress' treatment of us was shabby. He took offence and said he would rather we leave. I was pretty upset by this time and my fiance was angry. I told them that we had just got engaged and they had managed to ruin our evening. He told me, "good, don't ever come here again!". Wow, I've never been spoken to in a restaurant like that, ever. In fact Thai restaurants usually reflect the values and sincerity of the Thai people - very polite, sweet and charming. Not so here. We left all our food untouched and exited. I've had incredible Thai food in my time and this scores a decent 3 out of 5 but it's certainly not worth the abuse. If you must, get take out. Or go somewhere where you arrive to a warm welcome and leave with a warm satisfied stomach. Never again.
