Today, 11/30/2010, I went to the Hooters at 2519 Southwest Fwy, Houston, Texas. I ordered a Steak Sandwich and an order of curly fries. 25 minutes later the food showed up. It had been sitting so long the grease was congealed on the plate and the curly fries were cold. I decided to go get a hot meal elsewhere and asked the waitress for the check. With the bill I got some guy who demanded to know, "We got a problem here?!" I explained I was trying to pay my bill and leave, since the food was cold, the service was lousy and I was determined to have a hot meal. He then asked if I wanted a to go box since I hadn't taken a bite out of the sandwich. I told him no, it was still COLD, and paid the bill with cash. He didn't bother to ask if I wanted my change back, I guess he felt even cold food and bad service deserves a tip.

Over the years of eating at Hooters I have picked up on the nuances of Hooter's service; (1)if you go in a group you get better service,(2)if you go with a group of athletic young fellas, you get greater service (3) if you order beer , you get faster service. But if you are an old geezer like me who eats alone , no matter how much you over tip, your social security check will show up before your food will, even if the dang politicians keep raising the retirement age. Another old guy told me to skip Hooters and have the "Business Man's Lunch" at the local Strip Club, since the food was better, the women were classier and the clientele were more sophisticated. I thought he was joking, until today.
