Went to Pappadeaux in Phoenix for a New Years Eve Day afternoon with two other couples (old folks). We hired a driver both ways so that we could have an adult beverage. Everyone including myself had 2-3 beverages during a $700, 1.5 hr, meal. Upon paying the bill, we went to the bar to have a beverage while waiting for our driver to arrive. We were then informed that we were no longer able to order drinks. "Corporate policy" was the explanation from the manager. We told the manager that we had a private car hire. The manager did not believe us! Without hesitation, no one was intoxicated. He said that a gentleman was slurring his words. First off, so what? He was not driving nor was he rude to anyone. What they didn't know is that the gentleman had previously had a stroke.

No one was intoxicated and no one was rude. Eventually, it came to lite that it was corporate policy to have no more than 2 beverages (handy excuse or actual policy, I do not know). It was a really frustrating and sad experience to be monitored and judged by big brother.

I will never go to a Pappadeaux again.
