Having never visited France, I can only imagine a charming countryside cafe might resemble Cafe 1187, which offers simple yet excellent service and food in a cozy setting. The Chicken Rarebit I ordered was flavorful, though I would have loved a bit more cheese sauce to enhance the dish, while the Guinness beef and vegetable pie surprised us with its crispy topping and delicious beef texture. Each visit here has been enjoyable, and the desserts, especially the maple pecan bread pudding, leave a lasting impression, making me eager for another meal with Chef Michele Tezak.

I adore cafe 1187. Texas has very few places like this. If you love gardens, antiques, and the idea of eating in an old farmhouse appeals to you then you'll love this place!
The food is wonderful and I know that the chef and owner trained at the Cordon Bleu school in France. She grows many of her own ingredients on site. It's a lovely and pastoral setting to dine!!!
