In the Summer of 1969, I was working for my Uncle Percy and Uncle Milton at AAA Iron and Steel in Grand Prairie. Their business is long gone. Sold and their property now buried under the concrete and steel of Dallas Fort-Worth International. I was 19, and this was an interesting interlude in my young life. They paid me well enough to endure their Texas "big" talk and the Dallas blistering Summer sun.
I was staying with Uncle P and one of our daily stops was for dinner at Little Bob's. I still remember this little hole in the wall and it's wonderful BBQ and the graciousness of it's proprieter, "Little" Bob. The sandwiches were huge and delicious and I never tired of them and the small talk with my Uncle and Bob.
I am so sad to hear of the closure of this little Texas dining treasure. If Bob is gone too, RIP buddy, your brisket was heavenly and I remember it well, with you, the smoke, sauce, and white bread.
