I recently got a job downtown and I am so glad I found this place! The prices are good and the food is really fresh. I ordered a bourbon chicken salad and they make it right there at the front counter and it comes with alot of extras like cucumbers and baby spinach- also they have homemade ranch dressing so good!! My co-oworker had the chipotle chicken wrap with swiss cheese and she really liked it too. Next time we are going to try their breakfast menu... and I have to say the place seemed very clean and the cashier was very friendly and helpful.

This place has been open for as long a I can remember( ever since i was at least 9 in 1983 . Mr Bateh (owner) is nicest man you could find in all of JACKSONVILLE. He is 90% blind and will remember you by name even if you have been there only once. I grew up with my mother working in the building the cafe resides in. I was in there recently one after more than 12 years and Mr. Bateh recognized my voice instantly. I have never gotten rude or anyone bellicose, nasty or just plain rude when I have been in this cafe. It is my suspicion that the -previous comments are from fellow competitors near this business. Many businesses have come and gone from the area. BAY STREET Cafe is still there after more than 20 years. It is because the owner will not put up with bad food, bad service or rude people. Hand him a 20 and he will give you the change back correctly even though he is blind and you did not tell him the denomination. IF the reviews were consistent then why has this business crushed the competition year after year. THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS ARE OFF BASE AND DO NOT STAND UP TO THE MUSTER OF THIS SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.

the staff in this deplorable restaurant are extremely bellicose and rude. moreover, the food is mediocre at best, and the price of this mediocre food is exorbitant. perhaps the staff should engage in attending classes in diplomacy, tact and interpersonal relations. one exception: the elderly gentleman that takes people's orders is very amiable and humorous.

when i attempted to patronize this restaurant today, i was treated in a very rude and unprofessinal manner, to wit, i walked into the business, stood at the counter and waited for someone to take my order. moments later, a lady came in and said godd morning to everyone. the woman in the back ignored me and asked the gregarious woman what she was having. reprehensible. odious. a very wretched experience.
