PRIME WHAT ???
While staying at the Marriott City Center in SLC La Bella Piastra located in the hotel offered a Christmas buffet,($35 plus 20% per person) Featuring Prime Rib,Salmon, chicken.
After sitting down, ordering drinks then being told several of our drink request were not available (basic soft drinks) we ended up with or I should say settled for 2nd and 3rd choice options. Not sure if they were out of the drinks we ordered or if our server not understanding English may have contributed.
Still full of Christmas spirit we pressed on.
The buffet line consisted of a cheese tray, small pieces dark dry cheese. looked like it had sat on the counter for several hours. A salad looking very similar to the cheese sat next to it.(Christmas spirit dwindling).
I moved on to the salmon and chicken. Two chaffing dishes with nice labels.
1st the chicken. A loaf of Pressed chicken with a khaki/camo colored ooze dripping from the center.
2nd the salmon. While almost as impressive as the chicken the salmon sat in a liquid that resembled curdled milk. (flashes of National Lampoons Vegas vacation buffet ran through my mind)
With a positive attitude I moved toward the Prim Rib.
Awe the carving station. A dirty wood board with a shop light fixed to it, presented ......I still don't know. Two pieces of something that looked like a small leather hand bag, hard and brown. I say hard because of the noticeable effort the gentleman used when trying to cut a slice from one end. I asked if he had something more rare. He replied in broken English "That it". I actually asked my wife if she thought this could possibly be a T.V. show....NOT.
Not everybody at our table was unhappy, my 5 year old told us that his fish tasted just like Miss Nancy's at day care, lololol.
I paid the $173.00 (3 adults one 5 year old) and left. After reaching out to the restaurant with no response I felt a review was in order.
Note to chef(and I use that term very loosely) you might want to go a different direction with the next buffet
