08/19/2024 - Delicious but expensive
The atmosphere is beautiful and formal. The food is really delicious. We had steak which melted in our mouths but the tab altogether was $100.

Worst service! We were outside then it rained, they moved us to the main floor then moved us upstairs. Overpriced food. The stern and unfriendly owner was manning the front desk. He asked my niece for her ID. I said, why do you need her ID, he said we have you reserved for the bar area. I wanted to say then why don't you ask her what her age is first before asking for her ID.

Okay, I generally don't write reviews, but felt like my recent experience coming here on a whim with my wife was worth sharing for others.
It has only outdoor seating - which is absolutely no problem as they have large umbrellas and it has lots of trees. The area is very beautiful and with constructions the road was very quiet luckily. We were seated in an area meant for two people mostly and there was a wall of umbrellas across from us blocking the sun.
Our server comes and was good - food and drinks were good. Then as we were finishing there was another couple near us talking about celebrating a new job one had gotten - so they were gonna buy fancy wine with their server.
She goes to get the wine and when she comes back to their table - she decides they are being hit slightly by the sun through two umbrellas. She then called for assistance to fix this - and literally removed the umbrella we had blocking the sun on us to block out the sliver of sun for the people buying expensive wine. The server also said she was hoping to get a new job and was going to hear back soon because "she has to get out of here". So I guess other servers be warned?
The server, expensive wine guests, and assistant kept saying "oh yeah that's better" and I kept saying "maybe for you but not for us" to which they seemed to just ignore (even to the chagrin and chuckle of other parties so I know they could hear). So now sitting the sun waiting for the check to be handled etc. we decide to just pay up front instead of bake.
We brought this up to the front desk - and the owner was manning this station. We told him and he immediately attempted to confront all of the people and get the story directly with us there as if my job is to confront and explain to them.
I ended up just giving him the check - and honestly I fully expected some kind of something being knocked off the bill etc. nope full charge. That simple act could have probably made it possible for me to return - but it seems this place only really cares about money in the end. Both the owner and wait staff - so I guess if you can buy a fancy wine and act like your rolling in dough - your experience might be good. However I will not be returning and I wouldn't recommend it.

The setting is quaint and charming with a lovely patio setting which we have been wanting to try for a long time. After our visit, we discovered that is the ONLY thing going for them and is their only draw. The service was non-existent and the food even worse. We should of known when there were only 3 other tables occupied and that reservations are always open and available online.
We were concerned when we saw two of the tables next to us RETURN their meal and ask for something different. Our experience was no different. To charge $38 for pasta, one might think it was homemade, or at a minimum, cooked properly. Ours was clearly a boxed pasta and WAY over cooked, like eating mashed potatoes.
The halibut was shriveled down to an overcooked portion that looked like it was 3oz.
The "staple" French Onion Soup for most restaurants for $19 tasted like the Chef poured chicken stock in a crock pot and added onions and rosemary. Little to no flavor. There isn't bread or anything special served with the meal or starter courses.
Having been in the restaurant business our whole life, we didn't complain and didn't request anything removed from our bill. The server noticed that nothing was eaten from our pasta so we politely told him it was just overcooked and had no flavor. The Owner/Chef never came to visit the table or ANY table. Instead, he was seen visible laughing it up on the porch and sitting drinking with friends. This makes sense seeing all the other reviews about the restaurant and its management.
All around, one of the best examples of a horrible "experience" from start to finish. Inattentive service, lousy boxed food, and poor indifferent ownership/management.....and the best part is, all for $$$$ prices.

The sandwich was actually very good. We ordered two desserts and found out later that he charges $15 for one dessert and $16 for the next. Totally gouged for a very very small portion. Of course none of the desserts are on the menu so you never know what you're paying until you get the bill.
