07/26/2013 - Kezzy Ugimachi
The place is gorgeous and the food is actually good. We have been going to East Buffet for almost 2 years and I have gotten along with many of the staff since my husband and I are fond of spending time together there, and we are very generous in tips- especially to Harry and Jimmy. They change waiters and chefs often, and one of the waiters you must be careful of! Marty is short and skinny man with a crooked stature. If he does not like you, he will pout at you and neglect your table. If he likes you, he will butt in during personal conversations at the table as if it is also his business.
I understand that Marty works on tips, like every other waiters in San Antonio. But throwing pennies at a customer and saying, "why don't you take your change since you're not going to tip me anyway?" is very rude as a person and a staff member. I approached him to let him know that my husband was breaking a 20 dollar bill at the front desk- 10 for the sushi bar and 10 for him (which is more than generous), so please wait a moment until my husband comes back. But he walked away and ignored me while aiding other customers at his section as if he's got better customers to tend to now.
If we attempt to notify the managers, he will get in your way and make sure to speak first to the manager in Chinese so you would not understand before you get to say anything. Ever since then, not once has he apologized to us for his behavior and would even curse at us while walking through the door. So be careful of this short man Marty, crazy mad waiter at East Buffet!
