Bale has been serving some of the best banh mi sandwiches in San Diego for decades, with their #1 special loaded with meats, thick-cut pickled veggies, and a flavorful homemade pate that includes black pepper and garlic. The shop operates on a cash-only basis and offers a great deal where buying five sandwiches gets you a sixth at a discounted price, making it perfect for families or groups. Although the location is modest and parking can be challenging, the quality of the fresh bread, tender meats, and crunchy vegetables consistently delivers a satisfying and authentic Vietnamese sandwich experience.
