Growing up, stopping by Sheng Kee for their hot dog buns and sandwiches was a comforting ritual, and their red bean buns still satisfy my cravings with the perfect balance of soft dough and sweet filling. The variety of pastries, from the flaky pineapple Danish to the rich, smooth taro puffs, showcases a mastery of texture and flavor, though some items like the pork sung puff fall short of expectations. Their cakes, especially the light, less-sweet birthday cakes topped with fresh fruits, consistently impress and have become my preferred choice for celebrations.
