I WILL NEVER return to this restaurant, ever. My family came in from out of state to visit tonight, and we decided upon La Tonalteca because they have a vegetarian section on their menu that would suit my sister while those of us who weren't vegetarian could eat other things. upon arriving, we were seated without any enthusiasm from the hostess. Sitting down at a decent sized booth, we wait for our waiter. Once he finally arrived he asked us what we would like to drink, and because the answer wasn't given to him as quickly as he wanted it to be, he walked away to help another table. When he returned we put our order in. Margaritas came to the table and they lacked any alcohol- they looked like mountain dew and tasted of straight margarita mix. Appetizers came out - complete microwaved food... Greasy fries... And microwaved queso. When our main dishes arrived the plates were scolding hot, but the food was all cold. Not to mention, when my sister cut into her food she pulled a black hair out of her enchilada.
I asked to speak to a manager, who came over and told us that the black hair was a corn husk. I told him sir... That is NOT a corn husk.
He said "if that's what you want to think in your head, then think that." And went on to say "you think I don't know corn husk?" And he walked away. No apology, nothing, just basically insulted my intelligence. From that moment, the entire table decided that we weren't going to touch another piece of food or drink. as we waited for our bill, the manager stood at the table next to us, carrying on and cutting up smiles and talk with them. we piled our dishes filled with food on top of each other and spoke about how disgusted we were that the response we got from the manager was basically insinuating that I'm stupid and can't decipher a corn husk from a human chin hair. I could see if this debris had been on the outside of the enchilada. Maybe a stray on the plate, or even laying on top of it. But my sister pulled this hair out from INSIDE the enchilada as it was mixed in with the ingredients that filled the roll. My sister worked in the food industry as well as went to school for culinary purposes, and knows how enchiladas are prepared. That hair if it were a corn husk would have disintegrated after being boiled and then baked from the heat.
And even if the slim chance we were wrong - what the manager said and how he responded to our situation was completely and repulsively improper and unprofessional.
Our bill came to the table finally, $56 we ended up paying for food we didn't eat.
The manager comes back over to the table and says, as a token of apology "may I offer you a free shot of tequila?" To my sister who doesn't drink.

Are you kidding me ?!
If she were a recovering alcoholic and he had asked that I think that might have been the absolute last straw with me.

Now I know its national Margarita day, and I'm seeming a little salty .... But I promise you, had you been in our shoes tonight, you would have been just as upset. We ended up leaving and going to Perkins for a slice of their delicious apple caramel pick me up pie and coffee.

La Tonalteca should be really embarrassed by that fool they have leading as manager on duty. How mind blowing and baffling it is that in his head, HE THINKS it's okay to insuate that I DONT KNOW a corn husk from a chin hair simply because I'm pasty white. That was real silly of you sir.

It was a chin hair, in your microwaved trash that you served to us and had the nerve to call it "food".
