Awesome food
07/17/2021 - Disappointed Customer
After days of looking forward to dining at The Purple Hull, my wife and I ate there early evening, 16 July 2021. We frequent The Barbecue Barn next door and discovered “TPH” upon driving out of adjoining parking lot. After exploring the menu and reviews online, we arrived 45 minutes before doors opened for the Friday evening meal. Both mouth’s watered for the delicious food advertised as we entered the restaurant. I ordered a Friday special beef tips on rice. My wife had the owner recommended fried pork chops. Unlike the acclaimed generous portions advertised, our portions were skimpy. Although the beef tips were very good, the portion of rice (counted as one of two sides) was far from sufficient. I consider the two (beef tips & rice) as an entre. The two are considered as one and then comes the two sides. The “one” side I did get, green beans, was “””bland from a can”””. My wife’s two pork chops did not equal one in size as compared to those enjoyed in other restaurants. They were dry, as if left over from the days’ lunch meal. The desserts we shared (blueberry and apple cobbler) were both over cooked and mushy. Finally, the price for two mediocre meals of skimpy proportions came with a price of $39+. Hey “Long Horn Steak House”, California Dreaming”, “Cracker Barrel” and others, SEE YOU SOON!!!!!

We ordered through DoorDash. The order had one missing meal and an incorrect meal. The manager found out the errors and offered to make them and deliver them to our house on their dime! This would never happen with anyone else. AWESOME customer service! Food was great too!!!

All the food I've eaten there has been good and it is a clean restaurant and the people that work there were very nice. The price's are a tad high for food being served on paper plates but I will go there because the selection of meat and vegetable's. I don't like going to food bar places where bunches of people are breathing over your food so this is a good option to get fresh meat and veggies. I think the deserts are fairly good but should be a dollar less considering the serving size.

Been visiting here since they opened. Food is always good, owner and servers couldn't be nicer.

Staff and owner friendly. Took order right away. Prime Rib Queen Size was large enough. Tasted like it was cooked on the grill with absolutely no spices such as soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder. Very Bland. Tender enough. Told when asked if it came with Auju told yes. Did not serve it to me. I asked owner he said he would get me some. Prime getting cold. Ask again and he said he gave it to someone else accidentally. When he brought it offered to warm Prime I said no it was already cooked too much already. The Auju was horrible tasting. Tasted like hot oil of some kind. No flavor at all. He clearly didn't know how to make it. Everything is served
on Styrofoam. Items in salad so large it needed to be cut. When you tried to cut it salad fell on table because bowl so small. Cutting Prime Rib cut into cheap plate. Roll good. Corn on Cobb needed to be served with corn cobb holders because who wants to hurt your fingers touching hot food which it wasn't. Not hot enough to melt butter. Why did they serve the corn with the husk half on it? Salt on outside table had moisture in it and could not shake salt out. A lot of people will not speak up and let owners know in a nice way the changes they need to do to improve things. So what happens is those other people will not speak up and be honest and never come back. I would like to come back if the owner is willing to make changes. I will call before coming back to see if any changes have been made if not I will not give this place a second chance.
