I absolutely must disagree with the previous poster. We lived in Camden before and it was very good then. We just moved back and it is as good as it ever was. Their pasta dishes are great, as are the mussels. Their shrimp and chicken fingers are hand breaded. The super sub is soooo good! I hate to say it but the other post sounds more like a rant about not getting a free meal. We all know people like that. And saying that a free meal isn't your goal isn't very convincing when you keep mentioning it. Definitely give Old Armory a try. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious.

Went there tonight with my wife. We were excited to get away together and had heard that this was the place to go in Camden. We arrived and were greeted pleasantly, asked if we had reservations (we didn't) and we were seated right away. Once in the restaurant it was clean and decorated as it's name implies.
It took a minute to be greeted by our server, he was pleasant and attentive. We ordered waters and asked to be given some time to look over the menu. The menu was a little confusing as you get steamed mixed vegetable with steaks, however you have to order a choice of starch or substitute for a salad at an additional charge. What, a steak house that doesn't offer you a baked potato and salad with options as part of the price? Just raise your price by a dollar and give me an options, don't nickel and dime me to death. I should have know at this point we were in for an experience.
The waiter returned and we ordered. My wife got fried popcorn shrimp and I opted for their Special sirloin steak that comes with three fried shrimp, it was supposed to be their signature dinner, and I went ahead and paid another dollar, on top of the $23 entree.
My $1 salad arrived and was filled with mixed greens and a side of thousand island dressing. The salad was good and it prepared me for what i hoped would be a great steak, it being their house specialty.
I had finished my salad when our wine order arrived at the table, yes about 20 minutes into the meal. I forgot to mention the bread and oil dip that was really good, once again it raised our hope that we had a winner in the bag.
Some 30+ minutes into our visit we still had no received our food. the waiter did touch base with us several time hoping I think to take our mind off the wait. Once he said, "You food is coming up, it takes a little longer for our special state due to it's thickness." My anticipation rose with that statement, i was getting ready for a great steak.
Our food finally arrived, My wife's meal looked appetizing, fried popcorn shrimp, backed potato, cole slaw and hush puppies. My meal appeared very appealing, a very thick cut steak with onion strings, a baked potato and three shrimp. It went down hill from there. When i ordered I asked about the potato having butter and sour cream, none arrived with our meal and I had to ask for it.
Then things got badly worse. My wife's shrimp was nothing more than cheap frozen shrimp, the cole slaw was more like mayonnaise with some slices of cabbage mixed in and the potato was way over cooked and dry. I prepared my potato and it too was way to over cooked and dry, next i cut my special edition steak, my fork got stuck in the meat as I cut it, and I could have asked for a chain saw to make eating it more easy. My shrimp were large, but once again you could tell they were cheap frozen variety with little shrimp flavor. The best part of my meal was the onion strings on top of the steak. The waiter never offered steak sauce and stopped by the table once to ask how things were. I shared with him that it was not well and that we would just finish our meal and move on.
Later the manager of the restaurant approached our table to offer her concern that we were not happy. She apologized and said she would discount our meal for the trouble and she also asked that we give them another try, that the meat must have been a bad cut. I told her I did not expect a discount but answered the questions our waiter asked us with honest. I was not looking for a free meal, but a good meal!
Here is where things get really amusing. Our waiter brings the ticket for our meal. We open the little black leather folder to see a $6.00 discount. Seriously $6.00 off for the meal we received? It would have been better to just leave the check as it was, I didn't expect a discount or a free meal, but the $6.00 discount was like putting salt in a wound.
So to answer the manager's request that we try it again, I don't think so! We will just go around the corner to Sam Kendall's where the atmosphere and food as so much better and only cost a couple of dollars more.
Sadly bad, this is what our experience afforded us.
