Went to dinner last night and ordered. The service was very good, and the food was pretty good. The bill came and our entrees were charged more than on the menu. I spoke to the waitress, who seemed surprised, even when I showed her the discrepancy between the bill and the menu.
She said she would have to talk to the manager. She walked by a few more times stating she was looking for her, and stated she would see if anything could be done.
The manager came by later and asked what the problem was and I explained it to her, with the bill and menus on the table side by side. She was visibly angry she had to deal with this issue. She tried to say the prices "had just changed"' and I must have gotten one out-of-date menu. Looking at 4 menus at random showed that was untrue as they all had lower prices.
She acted like I was trying to scam the restaurant by paying the posted price. I explained when a customer orders, they expect that item at that price, and that I cannot decide to lower the price after the meal any more than they can raise the price after the fact. Blank stare.
She decided she would honor the price "this time," but implied I was at fault. WTF???
This is a clear case of Bait-and-Switch and it would seem to work to their advantage more times than not. Either people are unobservant, complicit, or hesitant to say something.
No matter, we would never go back where the customer is treated in this way.
