Always amazing.

Love everything about it. The sushi is to die for but I wish they would bring back the Heaven nigiri. That's the best sushi dish I've ever had. We've eaten there many times and will continue to eat there.

Let me begin by saying I have never in my time of living in Miami, and Orlando, FL we have never ever had any trouble with a chef making alterations due to an allergy. My fiancee and I just moved to Cookeville, and were suggested by friends to try this place out, we were hoping to find our new Sushi place. Now my fiancee is DEADTHLY allergic to shell fish, we tried ordering the Sashimi appetizer platter (which happens to bring shrimp) we asked if the shrimp could be altered for possibly another fish and we would be happy to pay an up charge for it. We were told the chef "REFUSES" to make any alterations to his menu. Then we asked if we ordered another sushi platter and just have the chef not make the rolls with shell fish (which mind you is half the dish) would we still be charged full price? We were told yes... So the chef REFUSED to make any alterations even for health concerns, then expected us to pay full price for half a dish. All this communication ran back and forth between the chef and our server, she was great and tried everything in her power to help us but was stuck between an unprofessional chef/manager and a hard place. We paid for our drinks even leaving the young lady with a tip. I would never recommend this place to anyone else with or without dietary restrictions and I will not be returning ever again.

So in short if you have a food allergy or dietary restriction DO NOT go here, the chef will make you feel like its your fault for having an allergy.

Quality is amazing. No one puts more pride in their food both presentation and taste. Lots of variety. Wonderful, friendly wait staff. Great location and beautiful, vintage building.

Love this restaurant!! I've eaten sushi all over the world and Taiko in Cookeville ranks right up there with the best of them. The service is right on and the sushi itself is marvelous. My favorite is the Cookeville Roll, but there are so many to choose from you really need to go with a group and sample all or make several trips back. It's worth the time!!

I love Taiko! The sushi is so tasty and they have a ton of different kinds to sample. I love to support our locally owned restaurants, and this is a great choice in Cookeville,TN.

This is my first bad review for a restaurant, but I left enraged!!! We travel often and LOVE trying new sushi restaurants. We decided to try Taiko for lunch, this was our first and last visit to this establishment. We were sampling different rolls as well as the sashimi. All were OK until we had a problem with one of the rolls. It was supposed to have cooked shrimp inside topped with spicy scallops. The scallops were tasty, however the shrimp was burnt. It took us about 15 minutes to get the servers attention (she was the only server working), she took it to the back. When she returned, she informed us that Sam (the owner) had personally made it and it wasn't burned. That the shrimp were cooked with a thing called "panko bread crumbs" and that's the way they look. Now, my problem is that I cook with panko and when it is cooked to the color of the seaweed and smells .... THERE IS A PROBLEM! We asked to speak to Sam, she told us that she would check to see if he was available. When she arrived without him, she said that he wouldn't speak with us and that it wasn't her problem that she just worked there. BEWARE... Our lunch for 2 was $55 dollars (we had no liquor), service ended up awful and the owner has the worst customer service we have ever experienced! Good luck to you in a poor economy....
