Just returned to New York from visiting friends in Houston. I must say Houston is an absolutely beautiful city but the highlight of our vacation was dining at Prime 101 Steakhouse. Living in New York City I have dined in many fine establishments but non compare to Prime 101. Traveling there was no fun.
We traveled close to two hours in rush hour traffic from Houston to Montgomerybut we all knew it was worth it as soon as we walked in. The ambiance was so captivating and being greeted by the sweetest hostess we just felt so relaxed. Our server Cheyenne came over right away to take our drink orders. The drinks were top shelf and fabulous! We were surprised how diverse the menu was. The way Chef/Owner Tony incorporates his Italian heritage in this upscale steak house is amazing. In New York if you want Italian you go to Italian if you want steak you go to a steakhouse. Prime 101 is the best of both worlds combined in one at very affordable prices. There is something on the menu that suits everyone’s pallet. I have never tasted raw oysters like that in my life! Absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed shrimp cocktail, Crab cakes, fried calamari, scallops served in a giant clam shell, arancini balls, burrata, a cold antipasto platter topped off with Tony’s freshly baked sausage bread that I can still smell and taste. It was amazing and that was just the appetizers. This was followed by the best fillet mignon that I’ve had in my life. Cooked to perfection so tender you can cut it with a fork. Melt in your mouth. It was served with an absolutely magnificent Demi glaze. My friends had the cowboy steak that they are still raving about. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. My friend’s husband is born and bred In Texas and said he has never in his life had food anywhere as good as Prime 101. We topped off this amazing dinner with tiramisu for dessert which was just orgasmic. Special thanks to Chef Tony for coming by to say hello. He is a very warm and funny guy who has an absolutely amazing resume. Sad to say New York lost one hell of a Chef Restauranteur when he decided to relocate to Texas but Texas gained one. Prime 101 Steakhouse is a definite 5 Star plus establishment that ya all must visit. Outstanding food, amazing drinks, fantastic friendly service, ambiance, Even the ladies room was over the top! I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. We are already making plans to return.
