This the third that we have eaten lunch here, and regrettably it is the last. On our previous visits, we brought our own wine for a glass with our meal. The food is fine, as is the service. On this third visit, we were greeted by a sign on the door “Under New Management.”
No corkage fee on our earlier visits, but The New Management, to our amazement, charges $8.00. That’s more than we pay for a glass of wine at lunch. We opened our own bottle with our own opener. The wait staff never touched it. All they did was bring one glass for the wine, which costs them less than bringing us a glass of water (which we declined).
Under the Old Management, we wrote a 5-star review of the place, but the New Management we felt took advantage of us, and the food was not quite as good This is a very simple, basic, no frills kind of restaurant. There are too many good Thai restaurants in the Houston area. Some serve wine, and those that don’t do not charge corkage fees. We eat in Thai restaurants at least twice a week, and none of our business in the future will go to The Nines.
