As a long time area resident my family and I have frequented Joe's at least once a month, sometimes two or three times a month for as long as I can remember. Sad to say that is a tradition that will end. Apparently the proprietor (Joe) has partaken in a few too many libations from the bar in his cafe as he is under the illusion that his Podunk cafe in the little town of Fayetteville has magically transformed into a 5 Star restaurant. It's the only explanation I can find to justify a $12 chicken fried steak that tasted like I was licking a salt block with every bite! I must admit the new menu was nice but the prices are absurd! Again, we are talking about a cafe in the small town of Fayetteville in a building where you hardly have stir your tea as the floor will actually vibrate when the wait staff walks by. At least before, the prices were average, you could chose between a large and small chicken fried steak and you actually got salad with your meal. To top it off, when you "chose" a large chy fry you actually got a large rather that a small and being charged for a large! One would think since Joe's does not take credit cards his "cash only" policy might be reflected in his price ranges? Instead of having a decent home cooked meal in a pleasant small town atmosphere where everyone knows everyone including your waitress, where you can watch ESPN or whatever happens to be on the TV. Instead Joe is charging prices that some Houston/Austin "restaurants" would be hard pressed to justify considering the little he has to offer. Have at it Joe, but you won't be getting mine, my family's or my friend's business anymore, that I can promise.

We have lived in Fayetteville for a year and love, love Joes place! Great selection and the food is consistently great!

I have to tell you, I'm suspect of some of the bad reviews here. We've eaten there many times and NEVER experienced rudeness or bad food.

We love to eat there. The food is very good - and I had a hamburger last that you "build" and select what you want on it that was THE best hamburger I have ever had in my life. And I'm 65 years old!!

Don't know if the competitor is writing some of these reviews or not. Joe is fine. He won't kiss your -ss, but he runs a great place, the waitresses are VERY nice. I don't know that they "know us" either (and we eat there a lot), but who cares! I don't go there to make friends; I want a clean place, quick service, and great food.

Joe's has all that.

The service is horrible at Joes. Our waitress was rude and the food was less than adequate.
Rudeness must be a qualification to work there. Do not eat at Joes unless you want a rude waitress.

We live in Industry, Texas about 10 miles from Joe's (don't blink). We eat there when we decide it is time for date night.

Eating at restaurants is tough in this area. I am originally from North of Seattle and a huge foodie. It is tough because the disappointment of paying ridiculous costs for poorly prepared food is barely worth driving to a restaurant. And then of course, in a radius of 20-25 miles, try to find somewhere that serves not only battered and fried everything. Everything is battered and fried. If it is not, it is usually prepared as if the cook knows not what they are doing. Chef is a word heard on TV. ( I realize there are a couple of restaurants that may serve more unique offerings and charge as if they were gold leafed, but the difference here is I cook better for less than these places, eliminating thm from my choices.

We have been to Joe's many, many times. (We are never recognized) If service is key in your eating experience, this would not be my destination. It is ok, and sometimes less than ok. But the burgers have changed me from a person that did not care for a burger to a burger lover if it is cooked at Joes. I would not say friendliness is the staff's strength, but not rude.

Portions are adequate, depending on what you are used to. Rarely do I need to take home a leftover container, as I must in most other restaurants.

Now the most important aspect to me for any, any restaurant: the salad. A little Iceberg lettuce, a couple of white onion rings (raw) a bit of tomato. Sometimes it is adequately drained, sometimes not. Limited selection for dressings, and did not taste like they were freshly made. I could be wrong on this one, but if so, I apologize.

However, the seasoning for any item can be hit or miss. Sometimes no salt, sometimes they are ready for deer (salt lick)

All in all, one of the best choices in the area. :-I

I am visiting the area from No. Carolina and decided to try Joe's Place. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. Joe and his wife, who happened to be our waitress should learn some manners or try another business that is not customer service oriented. Joe seemed to have a bad attitude the minute we walked thru the door. It went down hill from there. The waitress said there were no more salads, so my sister agreed to eat coleslaw. The waitress said "there was no lettuce to be found in the county" The coleslaw, which was not brought with her meal had to be requested. Nothing was brought with her baked potato, so she had to request butter, sour cream, etc. The coleslaw, when it finally came was maybe 3 forks full. She asked for a little more. Nothing more came from the kitchen and the waitress said some "fat guy" in the kitchen served up MY bowl of coleslaw which was full to the top, but that she served up my sister's bowl.
That was a very rude thing to say. The food was nothing to rave about. As we were receiving our bill, I noticed that the two ladies adjacent to us were served a full bowl of salad. They came in AFTER us. When we went to Joe to pay the bill, my sister brought up the poor service and Joe literally threw my debit card at me and told us to "NEVER COME IN TO HIS RESTAURANT AGAIN". Not a problem, we won't. Don't eat at Joe's Place unless you want to be abused.

What an amazing little place. Good food, nice atmosphere and a decent wine selection.

Visiting friends and Texas for the first time, we found Joe's Place as a treat for dinner. Local hospitality, good food, friendly staff made our visit special. We all had the rib eye special cooked to perfection...the twice baked potato side was the best I've had.

Happened upon the place while riding a wide loop on a Sunday afternoon. Good steak, cooked as ordered. Cold beer and friendly people. Service was good, but not imposing. Highly recommend Joe's Place.

Considering the experience i have had at eating out. Me and my family drove all the way from Houston TX just to be told by the owner, which i found out later his name is Joe Simpson from somewhere in Louisiana, he told us that if we were not happy with the terrible service to go back to Houston because that is the way we do things out here in the country. there are like 20 tables with a staff of 1 or 2 waitresses. So good luck with that. But if you are looking to get something for free. Joe's Place is so short staffed that by the end of the night no one knows what you have been drinking because you can never find your waitress and anyone will bring you another drink.Ain't it grand!!

Get the Chicken Fried Ribeye. OMG!! We LOVE this place. Make special drives to eat the country gourmet cuisine.

Great service. Crisp salads. Cold beer. Chicken fried steak is fabulous...but the Chicken Fried Ribeye...it's worth a long drive.

Best food I ever had. My husband and I go there every time we go to Fayetteville. My mother-in-law and father-in-law will be moving from Fayetteville and my husband and I are planning to make special trips just to eat at Joe's. All the employees are very friendly.

Food and service was terrible. Owners of the place were rude and unprofessional. Just driving by thought it would be a good place to eat but I guess not. Next time I'll take the time and drive around Fayettville
