Today we visited goodfellas for our 3rd or 4th time. Up until today, everything has been OK. We stopped in for a bite to eat before catching a movie at the nearby theater. Since they don't have a lunch menu, I decided to order an appetizer of "Chili cheese tator tots". When we got our food I took a bite and was surprised to find a lot of large chunk and diced bell peppers. I'm not a fan of peppers and this whole dish was flavored like them. As I looked up to find our waitress, I could see her through the window getting a cigarette out of her car that was parked right outside where our table was. I pushed aside my food to try and get something else. In the 5-7 minutes it took for her to come back and finally check on us, enough time had been wasted that I wouldn't be able to order another item, have time to eat it and still make it to our movie on time. Even though my plate was pushed away from me with only 1 bite taken, we still had to get her attention that I didn't like my meal. She asked if I wanted something else but I declined because of the time restrictions. Shortly thereafter she brought our bill to our table, saying that she gave us a discount because I didn't like my food. She said it as if she was doing me a big favor, so was I shocked when I looked at the bill and only half the price of my appetizer was taken off. I asked if I was truly being charged for the one bite I took of my meal and was told that I ordered it, so I should pay for it-that she offered me something else and I didn't take it, so I am paying for it. When I pointed out that I would have had time to reorder if she had checked on us BEFORE her smoke break she told me that I am being rude so she was going to then charge me the full price. I said that was horrible customer service and that it wasn't my fault that their menu didn't say ANYTHING about there being peppers in their chili. She then yelled across the restaurant that I needed to pay my bill, leave and "should never show our faces in there again. As I was about to ask for a manager to report this horrible service she informed me that she was the Owner! I was shocked! I've been in the restaurant business for 15 years and I could never imagine treating a customer this way. Many people think the motto "the customer is always right" should still be true. Having been in this business, I can tell you the customer isn't always right, but nobody should be charged a dime for food that wasn't properly described in the menu and therefore didn't like it when it arrived. Needless to say, there was no reason for her to ban us because I would NEVER EVER go back there, even if they were giving away free food. Save your money-this place is overpriced, has mediocre food, and obviously horrible ownership setting an equally horrible example for all their employees. AS I STATED WHEN I LEFT- THANKS AGAIN FOR THE FABULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE SHELLY!!!!!
