RANT and it's a long one.

This is about an employee not the business because I love to support local. As someone who has worked in food and retail I know not to be rude to someone, especially if that person is touching your food! I've never had an experience like this and I honestly can't believe this happened.

After I got off from work today I decided to grab some grub from the Shake Out on the way home. I ordered a fingersteak meal with a shake, a cowboy burger meal with a shake plus two extra fry sauces (0.25 each). I asked for the bun to be separate because I live about 30 minutes from town and didn't want a soggy burger bun by the time I would got home. Food plus 20% tip came to just under $29. I get the food and make sure everything is there. I did not open the burger box because I figured if they put the bun with it I got buns at home and will just replace it. No big deal.

I get home ready to eat and open the burger box to see they gave me a plain burger patty, bun separate (yay), side of onion, pickle, and barbecue sauce. This is not what I ordered. The cowboy burger is supposed to have onion rings, bacon, and cheese. These and extra fry sauce are nowhere to be found.

I debated going back and usually just let mishaps like this go and make due, but the fact I got something that looked like a dollar menu burger from McDonald's without the fixings for 7x the price was definitely disappointing.

I drove all the way back to the Shake Out and showed the nice girl at the counter who was really understanding what I got versus what I ordered and asked if they could remake it. I also said they don't have to worry about separating the bun and to just make the burger how they normally make it and I will remove the bun myself so there is no confusion. She let me know she was new and that she would have to get the other girl in charge, MaKayla.

MaKayla comes up to the counter with the skunkiest attitude and just says no, she won't make me a new burger because the order was complicated. Uh. What? I literally just asked for the bun to be separate. I ask her if she can just give me a refund then. She refuses. She then offers to reheat my burger and add toppings to it. I tell her that it isn't sanitary to other customers to reheat a burger on their grill that has been out of the restaurant for an hour and that I have touched. She doesn't care and takes the burger back and starts doing whatever. I keep telling the other girl I don't want MaKayla to make me another burger and that I just want a refund because who knows what she was doing to my food at this point. The nice girl says that only MaKayla is allowed to do refunds and that she is in charge. MaKayla finishes doing whatever to the burger and throws it on the counter. I tell her I just want a refund. She says I will have to call the owner if I want a refund for a $6.70 burger. Fine. Meanwhile I can hear customers behind me talking, calling MaKayla a b-tch.

I NEVER call owners to make complaints. I understand people having bad days and that the customer isn't always right. I've been there! I just could not believe this was happening.

I step outside to call Merilee. She was super nice and understanding! I explained to her what was going on and how I just wanted a refund because at this point I couldn't trust the food that MaKayla made for me. She agreed and said she would call so they would issue me a refund.

I come back into the restaurant and wait in line while they are helping others so I can get my refund. Merilee calls and tells MaKayla to issue me a refund. MaKayla sends the kid who was working the grill up to do the refund. Even though the others said before MaKayla was the only one who could do refunds. The kid gives me $6.70. I ask for the rest of the refund on the fry sauces I didn't get and the tax. He says he can't and that MaKayla said only $6.70. Talk about PETTY. It was just difference in change at that point so I just left.

I can't believe they have someone with that bad of an attitude in charge setting such a poor example for other employees.
