The Village Tavern in Porter is a cozy local spot with a welcoming, divey charm and a menu of affordable, tasty food. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the prices are great, with the added bonus of Yuengling on tap. While some may not appreciate the smoking allowed indoors, it's a quintessential part of the Indiana pub experience.

My husband, son and I go to Village Tavern all the time. Kelti is usually our waitress and she is a sweetie. Very friendly and efficient. Great food and staff.

Yesterday, my friend and I stumbled across the Village Tavern. I have driven past it numerous times and never stopped. Obviously, the current situation is not ideal for eating out often so I am careful where and when I do eat out. Nikki was bartending and waiting on us. The safe spacing was observed and we did not feel a bit uneasy. She was excellent in service and friendliness. I don't eat a lot of meat so yesterday was a treat. The food was outstanding, reasonably priced and served with a smile. Nikki gave us a little history on the tavern, too. It was well worth dining out, as we sat outside on a beautiful day drinking great ice tea from cups that were continually re-filled. It was a great experience and my occasional burger will now be at the Village Tavern. Oh, the sweet potato fries, tater tots and patty melt were fan"¢tas"¢tic. And, they serve fried bologna - that alone makes it a great place. Thanks VT for a great first visit. I will be back!
