06/04/2012 - Susan H
The new Cafe At Hope Bay combines a perfect, West Coast waterfront setting and a menu with an original twist. The wild sockeye with a warm fennel and orange salad is my favorite, but the roast lamb with preserved lemons and kalamata olives is a close second. The lemon cream chiffon cake I chose for dessert was so good I almost ordered another piece to take home!
Lots of seafood on the menu, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options. If you're lucky enough to be there on Thursday night, try the smoky prime ribs with a cocoa Cabernet sauce. But get there early! You'll have to elbow your way through a crowd of locals to get in. For visitors, the Cafe At Hope Bay is only about 10 minutes from the Otter Bay ferry terminal. There's also plenty of moorage for boaters. I'd recommend dinner reservations, though. Word is getting around.
