Very confused at the low reviews here… This is my favorite spot for lunch!! Love gonzo and his chicken.

I've ate here several times and they never fail to please. Menu is extremely well priced and they clearly have a passion for what they do. Their chicken and sides make other businesses in the area look bad and I'm always willing to give them my business. These yuppies reviewing them badly must be depressed their flavorless little mom and pop joint is going under while Gonzo continues to provide amazing food.

The food at Gonzo's Pollo is terrible. Don't be fooled by all the "five star reviews" on other sites...those duplicitous endorsements are written by friends of the owner.

The food at Gonzo’s Pollo is mediocre at best. My biggest issue with them is the poultry. Manure from the 159 million chickens raised annually in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley is the largest source of pollution in our waterways. Stop it already!

Very friendly staff but when pressed, they admitted that the chickens are neither organic nor free range. As a caring Mom, that’s a red flag for hormones, inhumane cages, and cheap commercial feed. I wished I’d asked before ordering!

Perhaps the “chemical taste” comes from REAL CHARCOAL! Sure, it’s a huge greenhouse gas polluter, but on the positive side, it gives the chicken a UNIQUE FLAVOR. I LIKE EVERYTHING about Gonzo’s Pollo, but for the sake of our planet, I’ll never go back.

My husband and I wanted to like this place…we really did. We try to support small business whenever I can, especially hard-working food trucks. That said, the chicken here is abysmal and so are the sides. Like the other reviewer said, every serving does indeed taste like chemicals. (Note: I’m also concerned about the amount of CO2 pouring out of the stack all day. An environmental and CLIMATE CHANGE disaster!)

The chicken stinks and so do the sides. I’d give Gonzo’s Pollo ZERO stars if I could!!!

Our chicken had a dry, “cotton ball” mouthfeel and an odd chemical aftertaste. Perhaps they use kerosene or some other synthetic accelerant to ignite the charcoal? Grossly disappointing!

I have NEVER, in my entire life, had a more RUBBERY chicken! You've been warned.

The sides are okay but we've had much, much better chicken!

Incredibly well priced, and absolutely delicious!
