My family had a lake house on Kennon Dr. for 36yrs. I basically grew up eating at the Kennon House. We sadly sold our place 8 years ago. My in laws now have a place there so we were visiting and decided to go to the Kennon House. They told us it had changed, had a larger menu as was more upscale. We live outside of Washington DC so fine dining is commonplace. We liked the changes and the menu looked great. However that's where it ended. The service was average at best. My main issue was the portions. I had the lobster stuffed ravioli. It tasted great ,I loved the sauce but for $24.00 I got 5 pieces of and my father in law had 7. You should not have to eat extra rolls to have a filling meal. Most of the people at the table felt the same way. As for our server, when a customer counts out in exact change the bill plus the tip at just under 15% ( generous considering the service)she thought she would come back and insult me by asking if I wanted change! Had I thought quick enough I would have taken it all back. Bottom line over priced and under serviced.
Both things can be fixed but it's up to the management. 8/6/10
