The food at Gosport Tavern was impressive, particularly the chicken fried meatloaf served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. My waiter, Daniel, was professional, friendly, and attentive, enhancing our overall dining experience. The cozy ambiance, combined with a variety of delicious menu options and cocktails, made for a memorable visit, and I look forward to returning to explore more offerings.

The chicken fried meatloaf at Gosport Tavern is absolutely delicious, especially when paired with garlic mash potatoes and garlic green beans. The service, food, and ambiance at the Tavern were all amazing during my visit last night. I even had a fantastic waiter named Daniel who was funny, professional, and made the experience even better. If you're looking for a great meal in Portsmouth, Virginia, I definitely recommend checking out Gosport Tavern for a pleasant dining experience.

Thank u for your service
10/07/2014 - Ms. Libby C. of Norfolk
The fish and chips were very greasy and the chips were overcooked (burned/very greasy). The oil that was used to prepare the fried food was not fresh, nor was it clean because three were "bits of burned residue from previously cooked foods" mixed in with my fries. My date thought that it was "seasoning." Their idea of entertainment was a guy who was using his laptop to play trivia pursuit with the customers. This entertainer was literally "sitting" at a table up front with a microphone yelling out questions so loudly that it was disturbing. Also I was served a fish & chip "platter that had 1 piece of thick, doughy, greasy fish." The advertisement in the Hampton Roads magazine showed a chef with a real platter with 2 pieces of fish- not a sampler basket. Not a good value. Also they informed me that the pictured chef no longer works for them! What a shame. I actually am embarressed and sorry we came. Thanks for ruining my date night. Also they no longer use the mason jars for their drinks. My $7.50 drink of fruit punch (it was not mixed right either) was loaded with crushed cherries like a virgin with not enough liquor just a lot of water & crushed ice and soda (yuck!). The young man who worked there lied to me & said that "we have not given anyone 2 pieces of fish in about two years!" Wow, sad.
