Forget fast food, the Sand Dollar on the main strip in Long Beach, Washington has has given gross and greasy a new name. The food at the Sand Dollar is about as appetizing as a bucket of slightly warmed lard. The corn dogs in particular are terrible. These corn dogs are touted as the creme de la creme of Long Beach's carnival style hot eats, but lack any form of flavor or quality. The bread falls right off the dog and is so thick it is almost impossible to get to the actual meat, and when you do finally manage to make your way to the meat, an inevitable disappointment is in store. The hot dog is just as flavorless and the breading around it, and the whole abominable creation tastes like a fried clump of solidified canola oil. The elephant ears were also utterly terrible. They were thin and flat and more resembled a dry snake skin than an actual elephant ear. Food was not my only problem with the Sand Dollar, the cafe itself was a complete disaster. None of the tables or booths had received any attention from the employees, and were coated in a slimy layer of grease similar to the much despised corn dogs. Food was all over the place, and even the areas behind the counters appeared to be a horrible health hazard. In short, I would only recommend the Sand Dollar to individuals who would like to catch a nasty case of botulism along with their tasteless, fatty, and overpriced meal.
