Bringing my grandson back to Wautoma so he could participate in Youth Hunt. He has Type 1 diabetes. In ordering his dinner of chilidog and curds with a diet root beer I thought how much easier can it get? Or should I say how complex can it be? After eating he once again checked his levels. He was a soaring 350, a young man who has been in and out of children's hospital in Milwaukee due to insulin related issues. Even though the woman at the window dbl checked with me that I had requested diet. Sadly it was not what we received. Hence the soaring of his numbers. Please when people ask for diet soda, and you think well it doesn't matter. It truly does, It can be life crippling.
