I loved the nostalgic vibe of a classic Wisconsin supper club and finally got to try an authentic fish fry after visiting the House on the Rock. The service was super friendly and attentive-our waitress Laura even recommended a great Old Fashioned, and the bartenders mixed up fun drinks like pink squirrels and grasshoppers that I never knew about before. The food was solid, especially the walleye and prime rib, and the whole experience felt like a real taste of Wisconsin tradition with plenty of locals enjoying their meals inside and out.

The roast beef was good, the pork loin was not.
The waitresses were great, the manager was not.
I planned an event for 21 family members and asked that the seating be arranged so we could face one another. She suggested a horseshoe style seating with the long tables. When I got there nothing had been arranged like we had discussed, and she made some excuse and gave me attitude. I wonder if she gave it a second thought when I left that first day?! We sat at three round tables. So much for a Christmas family meal. These were my children and grandchildren that I don't see often throughout the year. She also said that the room would be secluded with the folding doors. I had to ask for that to be done after the food was brought in. Then at the end of the evening I asked if they would box the remaining meat, and the manager sent the waitress back to tell me that they charge by the plate?! This was a buffet. The desert was barely the size of a half of a deck of cards although, it was good. Including 4 small children the meal cost approximately $50 a plate with a 20% tip added in the bill, which is not unreasonable but, my four grandchildren ate chicken strips and fries. What I'm wondering is what happens to the meat that was left if they don't send it home with the customer? Do they freeze it and serve it to the next group that comes in? Or maybe resell it on Tuesday night? The one star is for the pool table in the room. I WON'T BE BACK.
