Around 1 p.m. today,(10/12/21) my 93 and 94 year-old parents wanted to take us out and they have long been customers of that place. They used to take us there every time we came to town. My dad always jokes with the owner and has recommended the place to others as well as taken guests and large groups out there repeatedly. Today, the 4 of us went in, we were hurriedly seated and given 3 place settings and water as my husband parked the car. (My parents are slow and have some mobility issues...) She gave us ONE menu. We sat there twiddling our thumbs , waiting, wondering what we were supposed to be doing and waiting for more menus when the 'hostess/greeter/cashier' went by. We asked for more menus so she told us that we could see the menu using our smart phones and pointing to the little code taped onto the table. She was already somewhat condescending. My parents have an old flip phone and even my husband and I don't like looking at our smartphones for EVERYTHING - our eyes aren't that good. My dad had taken his old flip phone out of his pocket and was making a joke by holding it over the code saying "I can't get it to work!" when she gruffly told him she was busy and "didn't have time to mess around" and basically dismissed us! We ALL heard it. This was not in jest; we all took it the same way and we were ALL offended. Dad was speechless. (She DID give us one more menu. We were grateful for THAT!) Usually the owner comes out and talks and kids around with Dad and whoever they're with. That's part of the lure of going out to eat, for older folks especially. They want friendly interaction - not surly servers and staff with attitude problems. We went ahead and ordered but dad didn't have anything except coffee. The rest of us had pretty much lost our appetites but ate something anyway. We were all kind of in disbelief. When we came in, there were 5 other booths or tables with diners in the entire restaurant, about a dozen people in all. We watched closely after this interaction and they didn't appear to be understaffed at all. After Jack asked her name, 'Gloria' started being overly friendly to anyone within earshot of us. The restaurant filled up a little more while we were there but it was by no means unusually busy or crowded. When we paid the bill, we got mom and dad out to the car and Jack and I went back in...For someone to disrespect my dad that way was stunning and we wanted to give her a chance to apologize...or something. We pulled her aside and I told her that the next time she told a 94-year-old man that she 'didn't have time to mess around," she might try saying it with a smile - whereupon she interrupted, tried to deny what she said and then tried to pass it off as nothing. Jack said "Look, we all heard you and we ALL took it the wrong way." I told her that my dad felt like he was friends with the owner and had never been treated that way before - whereupon she informed us; "FINE," that she would tell her son and daughter-in-law or some such relative who "own the place: - she turned her back on us and headed toward the counter area as we were still talking. None of us will ever go back and I notice other review sites have had negative interactions with this same woman. She should NOT be working with the public.

They used to be one of the best restaurants to eat at in janesville. The quality of the food, in my opinion has gone down over the last 10 years, while the prices continue to climb. They try to turn ureasonable profits they charge you 75 cents for the tiniest takeout containers. They can purchase those same containers for pennies. The other thing that is noticeably generic is the bread they use, you can always tell a good family diner by the bread they use. The more wholesome the bread the better all around experience. You generally end up with this piece of toast with your eggs thats burnt on one side and barely toasted on the other. Upgrade your commercial toaster and you a higher quality bread!
