03/02/2025 - Chantelle S.
I'm thrilled we decided to stop in after driving by several times, as the exterior doesn't do justice to the experience inside. The hand-packed burgers on toasted brioche were incredible, and Annie, the bartender, made us feel right at home. Nestled by Wild Rose Pond, the cozy, no-frills rooms exude Midwest charm and invite you to relax while enjoying the beautiful views and local camaraderie, especially during Packer games.
05/21/2011 - Diane
y hubby wanted to take me out tonight and decided to try the Wild Rose Hotel after reading an ad in the paper.
We had been there before but not in recent years.
We ordered their Poor Man's Lobster and Batter Fried Haddock. - My Poor Man's Lobster was over salted.
My hubby's Battered Haddock was greasy.
Our "Twice Baked Potatoes" were mushed boxed potatoes scooped
into a small baking dish and smothered in some sort of processed cheese. We asked for them to be replaced with waffle fries, which they were glad to do. The waffle fries were also over salted. The salad bar was very marginal and not attractively arranged. The shrimp soup had mushy noodles in it.
The chef, a woman, came into the dining room and sat down at a table and proceeded to chat loudly with a couple, the only other diners in the place. This went on for 10 minutes and showed no signs of stopping, so my husband and I went to a table out on the deck. A group of teens came in and ordered dinner on the deck and the F-Word was so prominent and loud that I had to go and reprimand them myself. A man, who appeared to be in charge, came out and mimicked what I had said, only cursed, using the Lord's Name. I looked at him and said, we're out of here. He proceeded to be sarcastic to me. We left and told the waitress we would never come back. She said they have no control of what customers do. Say what? Ask them to leave! - We spent $20 and left no tip. Out of 10 points I'd give it a 2 for the view....but maybe that's even too generous. Oh, the bathrooms were no great shakes either.
