Hey Cecil
I know how you felt but at least Kyoto served food that you wanted even if they changed the menu. Lets say you go to other restaurants like "Chilli". do you think you can order any food from the menu which has already been dropped from the list? I don't think so. After I read your story, I talked to the owner. He said he was very remorseful to you at that time, You were a good regular customer. But he also said Kyoto has never served shrimp appetizer with a vegetable meal which is only for vegeterian. I guess you may have misunderstood. I am using Kyoto 2-3 times every week since I divorced. Food is always good, the owner(sushi guy) is always generous and a very creative chef regading the sushi. I guess you don't eat sushi if you usually ordered vegetable meal, right? I also talked about " NO SUBSTITION" with the owner. He said, one chef could cook up to 10 people at one table. When the substition was allowed, some customers substitued one or two items to others. However just before changing the menu, most customers substitued one or two every time and this substition made chefs confused a lot. Some time the chef forgot or missed items and some time chefs served food to the wrong customer which brought alot of chaos and complaining to kyotos. Owner has to compensate, lose profit and reputation,etc.. Think about that! 10 people substitute one each, what's gonna happen? That's why he stopped the substitutions.
And comments from other website, "Guy in the lady's room?" she doesnt want to pay because of this incident? she came to Kyoto to do "DOO DOO"?, or eat? I can't believe" Guy in the lady room", also, I can't believe she didn't want to pay because of guy in the lady's room!?
This is Steak House, not the comedy club.
Cecil, talk to owner one more time. He is really friendly guy. He will wecome you even though you left bad comments on the web.

I love this place and frequent it at least twice a month. The sushi is amazing as well as the hibachi items. I don't know whats up with the comment below but they have 2 dining rooms and cook at the table in front of you in one with no difference in price its just your preference. So if you like a quiet dinner for 2 or a night out with friends and an awesome cooking show with fire and knife tricks its great either way!!!

Less than zero. When we tried to tell the owner that there was a man in the women's restroom he threatened to call the police stating that I didn't want to pay for the meal. Traveler's beware.!!!!!

The owner changed the menu last week and the vegetable meal is not on the menu. The owner told me there will be NO SUBSTITUTES and the meal does NOT come with an appetizer like the old menu did. The place has gone downhill, service sucks and restaurant is not clean. I suggest going to Huntsville.

I don't know about their Hibachi cook. I am the sushi lover. I am traveling all of the state and wherever I go, I always eat the sushi and sushi only. I am telling you, this sushi is one of top 5 in America. Better than L A, better than N Y,.. You can try Kyoto sushi...

Although the price was high the food was delicous one thing I would say that I didnt agree with is I personally like to watch them cook in front of me. I know it will atract more attetion but for the price it would help because ratings show by 30% it is better. So I think they could cook all day long.
