Rating & Review:
This Chinese buffet eatery provided bad service. Most of their wait staff did NOT smile at all! Their expression indicated that they were not happy about our dinning at their place. We initially thought it was their usual expression until we saw how they treated other non-Asian customers with BIG smiles. We considered this a racial discrimination—sadly enough they discriminated their own ethnic group.
Throughout the entire experience, their staff kept walking by and glancing over our table as if they were trying to see when we would finish and leave. We had been there several times and, at least five out of those instances, the waiter took away all our chopsticks and spoons when we were still eating! (We certainly did not put our chopsticks and spoons in our plate or signal anything.) It was very rude! How could we continue eating without our chopsticks? Apparently, they were asking us to leave.
Then it’s the food. It seems like they offer the same variety every day, lunch and dinner. It was a quite boring combination. The only things that attracted us there are crab legs, shrimps, and egg tarts. Unfortunately, they seemed to have discerned our intention. The “turnover rate” of the aforementioned items became extremely slow whenever we were there. (We have friends with whom to compare our experience.) The staff often left a few crab legs submerged in water on the bottom of the tray for more than an hour without adding more crab legs. As for egg tarts, there were only one or two extremely dry and cold egg tarts left when we were there. Instead of refilling the tray with fresh egg tarts, the staff let the cold ones sit there and after a while took away the tray. No new egg tarts for the rest of our stay.
Grand China Wok Buffet should understand that we paid the same price to eat there. We are also their customers and therefore should be treated equally. Their actions not only alienated us but also our friends and relatives with whom we shared our unpleasant experience. We will keep spreading the words unless they stop treating us like second-class customers.
