I am new to the area and was invited to have lunch here and had one of the best BLT's I've ever had. Today, I took my wife to have brunch after church and couldn't be more pleased...we both had the breakfast buffet and everything offered was fresh, seemed homemade and absolutely delicious! The staff was very friendly, the place was immaculately clean and the view is very relaxing. And if it couldn't get any better, the prices proved to be a great value. I'm sure this establishment will be a frequent destination. And the cupcakes and gingerbread cookies with white icing are incredible !!!!

My husband and I really enjoy this restaurant! The new owners took over in 2014 and have taken this restaurant to an entirely different level! The previous owners simply served food they could put in the fryer and out to the table.
Now, you are served homemade, home cooked meals that are so unbelievably delicious! They even go as far as making most of their own salad dressings! Homemade desserts, not just some pie purchased from a wholesaler are served here, and are simply amazing! They even sell homemade jams, jellies, and salsa! I love the fact that many of the recipes they use are family recipes or ones they have been given from friends through the years!
My personal menu favorite is their catfish. Having lived in southern Catfish country for many years I am spoiled by good fish, and frankly they know how to make it here! This definitely provides a great rival to the Silver Moon who gets raving reviews for theirs.
My husband really enjoys the beef brisket, saying that it is some of the most tender, well smoked brisket he has had.
This place is wonderful based on the food alone, but the atmosphere and scenery by the lake takes it over the top! The service is great as well! Best restaurant in the area by far!

Lincoln Trail Restaurant after going there for several years because it was one of my favorite places to eat. After spending hours over the years with pure enjoyment of the food, the service, the staff. Owners have changed a couple of times but the service and food were still excellent, till this last change.
Going to give mom a wonderful meal for Mother's Day, all of us craving fish. Moods were light and laughing, smiles abundant. We were having so much fun on our way to Lincoln Trail Restaurant, telling jokes, bring a special friend that had just arrived in Illinois to a restaurant that I had bragged about so many times. Taking 2 vehicles to bring the 7 of us to fine dining.
Walking through the door, the place had plenty of seating, a smiling waitress greeted us and said to sit anywhere. After all of us getting seated, and menus given to us, our drink orders taken, we wait. And wait. After approximately 10 minutes a couple of drinks find their way out, unsweetened tea with lemon. I admit I was shocked when the glasses had no ice. So shocked in fact, I commented about where is the ice? The waitress, not the same delightful smiling one that greeted us, but a young seemingly new waitress, she said we had asked for no ice. Dear Mom, very politely, yet firm, said " no I didn't ma'am." Shaking the girl went to correct the error, and the group looked over the menus once again. Talking, enjoying our time out. Young waitress brings back the unsweetened tea with a few more ice cubes floating on the top. Mom let this pass. We ended up ordering our favorite, of course. Catfish, 3 all you can eat, and 3 two piece dinners, and an order for the littlest one with us, toddler dish. Three baked potatoes, two adult fries, one toddler fry, and one order mashed potatoes, with green beans for our veggie.
Orders came out, a few of the potatoes were gotten right, the green beans were cold, the fish (best part) was perfect. Listening closely as the waitress goes back to get the right potatoes, I hear - They changed their minds on the potatoes now" Which implies to me that she has went and told some other slight fib to cover her error. (ICE). Letting this go as well, behaving, biting my tongue, I tried to enjoy my meal, after all I am also a mother. Conversations start back up as we enjoy our meals as they come out one by one, right finally. Being interrupted to be asked each and every one of us, if she could take our salad plates. I placed my fork down gently, very gently, behaving. I handed her my salad plate so that I could continue to eat my delicious fish in peace. Getting very full from just one piece of fish, I sat and visited. Asking for a to-go box. My husband sitting there visiting just happen to speak a number right at that time. Our young waitress decides he is speaking to her, and starts to dash off after 8 to-go boxes. Getting her attention quickly, I told her, he was talking with mom. She counted how many boxes we would need and goes into the kitchen. Out comes one of the owners, rude, nothing friendly in her behavior and starts in to let us know "we are not allowed to take the all you can eat fish with us" It was dine in only! Then we were told "we had been rude about changing our minds on ice, and the mix up with the potatoes and now we wanted to take fish that was dine in only" Yes my husband lost his temper, yes I stood and told the owner, "we did not say no ice" before I could utter another word. It was implied that I was lying. So with my two piece meal, I loaded up my fish and remainder of meal, and hearing the other owner tell my husband "just get your things and leave, never to come back" I looked at the other first owner and said the waitress was lying, she messed things up, would tell us one thing, and then go back in kitchen and tell them another." The young waitress denied this, and I looked right at her and said " WE HEARD YOU!"
So when there are new owners once again, I will gladly go back in and enjoy the best catfish ever. Until then, I will do my very best to make sure everyone is prepared for RUDE, SLOW, LYING, STINGY, LIMITED, SERVICE. Look out Silver Moon, Your catfish my second favorite.
