In response to Karen's post, lets try telling the truth, shall we. First of all you returned two untouched meals, both of which were brought to my attention. One you said was too done and the other not done enough. You didn't try either of them. I was talking the the waitress about the situation, and I decided to let her handle it. After the third meal, and basically being accused by your husband of trying to poison you, I had had enough, and asked him to pay the bill and leave. The first two meals were taken off the check. I never called you the b word, and if that is what your husband told you, that is an outright lie.
As far as the military goes, we offer active military personnel a 50 percent discount on meals. Our military flag says, "We support our troops." That is all it says, and it is hanging in the restaurant in part to honor my late father, who served more than 30 years in the Navy.
What I said to your husband was "I guess there is no pleasing her." The b word he added.
Things got ugly after your husband basically accused me of trying to poison you, by saying "I better not find out that you put something in her food." Are you kidding me? Seriously? That is when I asked him to pay the bill and leave. I also asked him to find somewhere else to eat, that he was no longer welcome in my restaurant. When he started refusing to pay his bill, I told him I was going to call the cops.
A number of officers eat here on a daily basis and understand how hard we work to ensure that our food is of top quality.
Tad's has been in business nearly 62 years, and I have owned it nearly five. I have never had anyone return two meals, and I rarely have a complaint about anything. If you ordered the home fries before, like you said, you know that we season them with a variety of spices.
Trying to run a business in this economy is trying, and dealing with people like you makes it even worse.

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to breakfast this morning at Tad's. We had frequented the restraunt 2 times prior and the food was good and prepared the way we asked it to be cooked. We had the same waitress on both previous occassions. She was wonderful.

This morning was a totally different dining experience. My husband, who happens to be retired military, ordered an omlete, grits, biscut, and drink. I ordered scramled eggs with ham, chesse, and onion. Asked that all the ingridients be cooked well and scrambled. There idea of scrambled and cooked well, is scramble egg and place it on the grill and omleted, onions raw and cheese placed on top of eggs somewhat melted. Sent this back. Came back with the eggs scrambled and made in pan and ham, cheese, and onion thrown in for extra measure uncooked. To be perfectly fair, I had ordered this same meal on prior visits and got it just the way I liked it. I was informed by the waitress ( not the waitress we had on previous visits) that their usual cook was not working today, Sunday, 7/22/12. That was the excuse for not being able to cook the meal correctly. By this time my husband was done with breakfast. Unfortunately, I am a diabetic and took my medication based on the fact I would be eating momentarily. As, one does not take diabetes medication and not eat. Unfortunately, that is what occurred. Knowing I had to get food into my system, I made the bad decision, to give them one more crack at not screwing up 1 egg over easy, home fries, toast. They got an extremely small portion to me. I tasted the egg which had eggshell in it (about threw up) and the home fries had something gritty added to it. The gritty stuff was still in my teeth when we left. I had my husband try the food to make sure it wasn't me tasting something weird in the food. He then asked me to leave and he would take care of the bill. I also observed the owner whispering to the waitress and motioning towards me as she spoke. My husband went up to pay for the meal. He told me, the owner said to him, "There is no pleasing that b-tch." He said,"He very calmly, told her that is my wife and that she was being very rude." She told him to pay and that she would call the police. He told her go on, but he was going to have his say. He told her we would never be back and was extremely upset over the whole incident. They have a sign that they "support the military/ that is active duty in uniform". They give a discount to military under those circumstances, which means basically they never have to honor it. My husband was in for 20+ years fighting for the freedoms this owner of this business gets to enjoy. A suggestion, she should leave the day to day running of the business to her wait staff as they have excellent customer service skills, which she/the owner has none. They have a sign up that says if your grouchy they'll charge you $10 for having to put up with you, I'd like to charge her $10 for putting us in a grouchy mood having to put up with her. Surfice it to say we will never go back and we'll be sure to share our dining experience with all the people we know. My 3 Bridge Clubs, Mahjjong, softball, bowling, pickleball, family, friends, and military people don't frequent this place unless you want to be mistreated, cursed, and threatened.
