I have eaten at Arbat numerous times, and have tries a variety of entrees and salads. The staff is friendly, and there's a cosy little fireplace to eat beside. Abundant portions, delicious deserts, and excellent service

My wife is Russian, and after reading the reviews here, we both decided to give this restaurant a try. It more than exceeded our expectations! The food was excellent - I ordered the beef stroganoff, my wife had the Olivje salad (a very traditional Russian salad, which came to life in Moscow from a French chef years ago) and a blini (Russian pancake) with chicken filling. Our two daugthers had pelmeni and blinis with delicious berry fillings. Everything was of excellent quality! Taste was authentic and homemade. My mother-in-law had just left for Russia, after visiting, and I have to say the sour cabbage (a standard side on all entrees) at Arbat was better than my mom-in-law's. By the way, kids eat free there! So, the huge portions of pelmeni and blinis, which our pelmeni-and blinis-fanatic girls couldn't even finish, were free!

We came into the restaurant at their time between lunch and dinner (just after 2pm). They are officially closed between 2:30 and 5pm, but they treated us as Royalty. The place is cozy inside. It's definitely a place we will visit again!

By the way, we drove from MI (granted, we had a Thanksgiving visit with relatives about an hour north of Madison), but Arbat was a destination as well. And now it will be next time!

Food was delicious. We had chicken stroganff and chicken schnitzel, both were tender and very flavorful. If you save room for desert, the honey cake was off the charts! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal at a quiet place. We went there on a Saturday night at around 6 pm, there was no wait and everything was great.

Real authentic Eastern European cuisine. It just doesn't get better. Try the Balitka porter!

We came in for the first time on 6/27/08 and there were 5 adults and one baby. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcomed when we arrived. The server was the worst server we have ever encountered. Very rude and unaccomadating. We were afraid to ask any questions because of her attitude, and when we left there was no goodbye or thank-you. For being a new business this was the worst service ever!!!!!! It's to bad because we came as a family from a Ukranian background and we were excited about the restaurant. Never again will we make the mistake of even spending another cent there. We will let others know. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went last night and was very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was .. I have not tasted anything like it .. I had the Golubtsi .. which is like a stuffed cabblage.. Excellent ! The service was good .. Music was russian .. but could get a few more decorations to get more of a "feel" of russian .. but I enjoyed my experiance and will be going again to try more of their selections ..

We were there last Friday. They were really busy but the serves was pretty good, and food was excellent. I had Golobci which is stuffed cabbage and my wife had meat dumplings. We also took some shots of Ukrainian vodka it was one of the best vodkas i ever tried.

I did not enjoy my experience at all. My dish was one of the greasiest meals I have ever had at a restaurant. It was beef in a pastry, but the pastry served more as a grease pocket. The atmosphere is very sterile to me and the service was very slow for lunch. I think they have a lot of work to do.
