10/31/2015 - Coleen Barthelemy
Just met my 3 nieces for an early dinner at Pizza Hut. They arrived first and waited for me. One other table of two in the otherwise empty restaurant. Another party came in during our meal. The appetizer and pizzas tasted very good. The server and manager leave much room for improvement for customer service or experience. In previous visits, the server would ask if we were interested in appetizers. Not this one. She took our order. Delivered our order. Asked if everything was "ok" once during the meal as she darted to and from our table before I could ask for our desert order and disappeared. I went to the server station. The cook went to the back to get someone. Out came the manager (per her name tag). I explained that the server walked away so quickly that I was unable to order our desert. She took the order. The order was delivered to us in a 'to go' box by the manager who stated that she wasn't sure if we wanted it for here or to go. Idea: how about asking your dine in customers before it was delivered to the table. I told the manager that our experience today wasn't very positive. She simply asked "What can I do?" Idea: State " I am sorry. What can I do to make it positive or specifically what is wrong?" It became obvious that Pizza Hut did not want our patronage by her body language and tone of voice. I simply replied "just boxes for our remaining food and bill so we can be done here."
Periodically I meet family members at Pizza Hut. We generally have appetizers, 2 pizzas, and desert. I usually tip at least 20%. Rarely are we in any time constraints. Thankfully there are other restaurants to patronage. I may try Pizza Hut again in about 6 months.
