Top Reviews of Bentley's Maddog's 30A

review_stars 08/15/2013 - Tony Howard
First of all, I'd like to say that I have lived on beautiful 30A for thirty years. I have seen restaurants come and go. Aside from jacking all restaurant trades, I have managed and "partnered" several 30A restaurants.
Through this post, I hope to convey this proverbial "constructive criticism".
The location has shown failure since Seacrest Village was constructed. Two well financed restaurants flopped within a year.....Destin Chops on 30A and Seagrill. Hopefully, the same fate will not meet Bentley's and Maddog's 30A.
As an experienced restaurateur, questions arise. What is this place? what do they offer? yada...yada...yada...until my mind asks, "Should I spend MY TIME and MONEY here???? ACT1: First experience with my family at Bentley's fine dining restaurant. Beautiful oysters, Crab cakes filled with delicious LOBSTER!?!?! yummm and beautiful. Grouper with spinach, artichoke and jasmine rice. Every thing was good/ok. The plate specs are ugly/ too 80s-ish. Its 2013, Time for some new culinary excitement. On another note, Terrible, terrible service. I will never forget our horrible server Robert. Absolute failure (even at IHOP standards). This guy dropped a full martini on my cousin's dress and we were there for her birthday!!!!!!! Most of the party actually left and went to La Cocina's mexican restaurant instead?!?!?! ACT2: Heard through the "30A vine" that Bentley's and Maddog's was opening for "brunch". Decided to bring my sister and grandkids for brunch. We ordered Beignets and French Toast for the kids. Our server was Patty. Although she was very personable and friendly, our table was neglected, drinks never refilled, plates left for flies to feast. The restaurant was not busy, and this old lady could not even handle 3 tables??? ACT3: We had to come back to Bentley's and Maddog's, mainly because the Ahi Tuna appetizer and 'southern comfort' were SOOOO delicious. My mother, sister and I sat in the bar area. After 20 minutes of nothing, the owner approached our table and asked us to follow him to the men's bathroom??? We just assumed he was joking...but weren't really sure.?:/ The young, handsome, Indian bartender was obviously neglecting our table on purpose. He dropped a very unprofessionally printed paper copy of specials on our table and said, "someone else will be right with you". This man's attitude was beyond disappointing. We then spoke to a "manager" named Sherry who claimed that she was dying from heart failure and her husband Locke was the Head chef???? What is going on at this place?????. Ten Thumbs Down. :(
