I always get the broiled seafood combo so can’t comment on other food. Like the salad bar and soups. Staff could use some more training though. I know it’s all imitation crab but wish the cakes weren’t as dry(too much breading) I do enjoy dining here and come quite often

This is the best diner in the area.

I think they may have gotten their algorithm wrong from silicon valley. Typical diner food without any pizzazz.

Every time I've been there the staff is very friendly. Food was always good, price is reasonable. I can't say anything negative with this place. Will definitely go back again

My Husband and I had Dinner at the restaurant on Friday evening. I had never been there and I'm very particular about the taste of food. I have to say that besides the place being extremely clean and the wait staff very friendly, the food was delicious. The crab bisque was as tasty as any high end restaurant and the rest of the dinner was very well prepared. If I had paid attention to some of the negative reviews I never would have gone so I'm glad I tried it for myself. I will definitely go back. My compliments to the chef.

Place is a joke, burgers taste like premade frozen patties, staff is lacking all around.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I'm just sorry I had to pick any stars!!! I have never given a review before! However, can't let this one go! Real simple...it was the worst food we have ever ate! I'm just waiting to end up in the bathroom shortly because I was stupid enough to try eating more of mine! My husband apparently the smarter of the two of us, refused to eat the garbage they served. After he let our waitress know, she asked if he would like something else to eat instead...he politely said no, the only thing she should bring him was the check! When she brought the check she informed us she took off the cost of his meal! I should hope so, after poking at the gravy for several minutes he decided it was inedible within one bite! Mine was missing half of the sandwich, so I paid for mine! I think they really need to reorganize and get some cooks in there that know what the hell they're doing!

Believe what you read in these reviews! They are very accurate because the food sucks. We stopped in for breakfast, the home fries were the worst I've ever had, some kind of soapy aftertaste. Even my wife's cooking isn't as bad as this!

We Love the Pied Piper! The staff is professional and always happy to see us. The diner is so clean and the portions are large and very reasonably priced. And they really cater to kids. This is our favorite place to eat as a family.

I just don't understand some of these negative reviews about the Pied Piper. We've been eating there for a couple of years and have never had a bad meal. We are seniors and love their senor menu but if ends early on Friday and Saturday. Then the hostess let us know that they serve smaller portions of most of their dinners at a lower price. So now we get the chicken parmesan
which is the best I've had anywhere. I just wish they had sugar free desserts.

Always looking for new restaurants, the Pied Piper had an unusual exterior/facade, so my wife & I went for Brunch on Sun., Sept. 30, 2012.

The dining experience was disappointing, at best. The seating host, a young Asian girl, should be retrained in customer relations because when I asked her about the wait before being seated, she was interrupted by the cashier, a not-so-knowledgable young girl who couldn't do a transaction, so the host ignored me, fixed the problem, then went into the kitchen (!!!), ignoring me again, came out & headed into a different direction when I stopped her & insisted on an answer from her. She was obviously VOID of customer appreciation.

But wait ..... it got WORSE!! We opted to sit @ counter (not normal for us), where 3 couples (including us) waited to place orders. Finally a young man came & took not 3 orders, but only 1!! Later 2 different waitresses took the orders for the other 2 couples. The wait staff, in general, were amatuerish & inexperienced & it showed. They were in a constant, near frantic motion but achieved little due to their wasteful, inefficient & repeated trips to their tables (serving 1 item @ time instead of multi-tasking). And oh yes, the wait staff had duties all over the restaurant, instead of a designated area. It was exasperating watching such hard but wasteful effort.

From the outside the place looks large but once inside, it is very small. So much for impressive facades. My Monte Cristo sandwich was good but my wife's scrambled eggs were done on only one side. In case you didn't guess, we won't go back.

My husband and I ordered take out , his burger was still frozen , and our fries were like dough totally undercooked , and I ordered a wrap that had brown lettuce in it and rotten tomatoes ! I was really disappointed we have eaten there on several occasions always dine in , and I don't think I will ever go back ! My husbands stomach is killing him !

We love The Pied Piper!! Been eating here for several years and always had a good meal at a good price.. Love the breakfast specials during the week. They make it easy to afford a nice meal out and have good service. I might also add that I have dietary issues and they always make what I ask for and have never had a cook say no to my special requests.
Sometimes we have a lot of unexpected company and show up with large parties and the staff is always more then happy to accommodate us with no prior notice..

While I respect all other reviews written on this site, I must respectfully disagree with some of the commentary. The Pied Piper is the half-way point between my home and my school. I stop there about twice a week always have a great experience! I have several dietary restrictions and needs and they always get me what I need. The food is fresh and they have a great variety. I have found that not only is the staff competent, but they are personable and really go above the call of duty. I have brought many of my friends to the diner and I can honestly say that every single one has loved it. I have friends that ask me to stop there on my way to school every week to pick them up something to go.
I think that people reading reviews should keep in mind that most people that write reviews are those that weren't happy with their experiences. People that are happy or satisfied with their experiences are less likely to blog about it. I encourage everyone to give this hometown gem a try!

Thank goodness for reviews, I was going to meet friends there tuesday, Red Lobster here we come!!

We decided to give this place a try since we live down the street and could come here often if good. Huge Menu with a lot of choices, unless you a vegan look for a veggie option. Most places would accommodate or alter a meal but not here. An example would be if you see they have wraps and you see they have a salad w/grilled vegetables with chicken breast on top you would think if you ask to have a grilled vegetable wrap they could do i? No chance.. The cook said No! More restaurants need to learn to adapt. With this outcome our family of 4 won't be walking down the street to eat here again.

Don't know what the other two posts are saying, it seems like they have something personal going on with the place. We have eaten there many many times and can't understand what they are trying to say? The weekend meals are great and there's too much to eat and the food is good!

i was passing through a town called bally and was hungry and saw this resturant, so i stopped in for something to eat...WORST DECISION EVER! so i sat in at the counter and listened as the women were talking about bugs in the salad and just random things in the food like the one lady found a finger nail in her soup. Also i over heard about alot of drug use going on with the day shift girls.apparently it a common practice to go after work drive around and smoke. there was a short portly woman with a very ill fitting dress on who was talking about her man having a mistress. come to find out this was the owners wife. she made my eating experience very unenjoyable listening to all her problems. besides all the staff compaining about the food and this lady at the end of the counter which i might add needs to close her legs when wearing a dress, the food was horriific. never again. what a waste of money and time

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I was just at your restaurant this morning "MOTHERS DAY". I had a lovely meal . I was talking with a family member over that meal. Now granted I was there for near 2 hours. But , no where does it state a time limit . I and my guest were asked to leave."THAT YOU HAD PEOPLE WAITING". First of all that was not at all needed . On "MOTHERS DAY" or not you are out of line . I was fixing to leave prier to the person approaching our table and "ASKING US TO LEAVE". That should not have taken place at any time at any restaurant. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not eat there again. Not Any time soon . I should have told everyone that was waiting "NOT TO TAKE TO LONG OR THEY WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE". Now what are you going to do about a letter in the BOYERTOWN/ READING paper and the MERCURY about this. I am very upset at this point and can't yet believe that "YOU ASKED US TO LEAVE". I have been a costumer there many times in the past but that is NO MORE. I will be calling soon to discuss this matter with the manager or owner or both .
