review_stars 05/11/2023 - Worst Breakfast/Brunch Ever
I was looking for a breakfast place while my family were here visiting. My husband and I moved to Charlottetown a year ago and don't really know a lot about the restaurants . Leonhard's looked like a nice place from the outside. There were 4 of us for breakfast/brunch and the food wasn't good for any of us. The place is very cute, the service was O.K...?, the coffee was really good but the food wasn't good at all. I had the Eggs Benedict with ham, my absolute favorite breakfast dish. It was the worst I have ever had and I have had this dish in many different places for more than 40 years. It came with grilled potatoes and salad but I didn't want salad for breakfast so I said no salad. First off everything on my plate was cold. The English muffin wasn't toasted, the ham was black forest cold cut ham, the eggs were totally over cooked, I asked for the hollandais sauce on the side which was so cold that I asked for some that was warmed up thinking that I could then use it to warm everything on my plate. It came back tepid and totally broken which looked like a pool of butter with scrambled eggs in it. When I showed it to the waiter he said "I put it in the microwave because the sauce is never hot in the kitchen". And he just walked away. I don't get it because I have had hundreds of Eggs Benny with very warm hollandais sauce always on the side and I have never had this happen or heard this excuse. There was some kind of spice sprinkled on top to the eggs which tasted weird. It made me cough when I tried to eat it so I scraped off what I could. At one point my Mother told the waiter that she didn't like her toasted bread. He said "oh, sorry" and walked away again.. He didn't even ask her if she would like another kind of bread or something else. She ordered fresh orange juice when we sat down because she needed it to take her pills and she reminded him once more when he brought the coffees and I reminded him again about 8-10minutes later. It seemed as though he was the only person on the floor, maybe that is why he kept just walking away.
I asked my husband, my Mother and my Sister if there food was cold and they all said yes. I guess I could of complained to someone but I didn't think it would matter since I tried to get my sauce fixed and that ended up even worst and the waiter didn't do anything about my Moms toast. I didn't want to make a fuss in front of My Mother and sister who were here visiting. It cost $16.95 for the worst Eggs Benny I have ever had and another $5.00 for the coffee. My husband had the french toast and said it was cold and firm not the usual hot and custard-ish he usually gets.
After speaking to my Mom, sister and husband about there food I can honestly say that brunch at Leonhard's was not worth the almost $90.00 that we were charged for the 4 of us. We all agreed that Leonhard's is the absolute worst place any of us have eaten, anywhere in Canada. I will never go back there and if you want a good meal do not go there. My sister said the food would of been better if we would of gone to Tim Horton's drive threw. We all said she was right.
As a customer I want restaurants to know that I do not mind paying all these higher prices because of inflation and food cost but at least give me something edible so when I leave your restaurant I don't feel like I have been scammed. Shame on Leonhard's for charging these prices for horrible food not worth even half of what we were charged.
Don't be scammed by a nice looking place, like I was at Leonhard's. Go anywhere else... not Leonhard's
Worst breakfast ever.
