I went to Sushi California for my first time with a friend, and it was pretty good! The place was small and not so welcoming but, the food was great! We ordered the spicy tuna roll with crunchies and it was really good! The chef and waitress were both so nice, that they even gave us miso soup and shrimp "on the house". The prices were very fair! I may not come back to SIT there but Im sure to come back and TAKE-OUT from there!
WOULD DEFINETLY RECOMEND!

Sushi California in Englewood has THE WORST service known to man. I have never seen such terrible service in my entire life. I'll give you two examples. 1. I once placed an order and when it was delivered I realized they forgot to add my diet coke. So, I called and told them they forgot. I didn't get an apology but the guy said he'd refund me for the soda. I was a little annoyed since I obviously wanted a drink to go with my spicy roll but I looked past it as a mistake and ended up ordering from them again. So, the next time I ordered they AGAIN forgot my diet coke. So I called expecting the guy to say, "Oh of course, I'll send the delivery man out immediately." But, no. He said he'd refund me again unless I wanted to come get it because he "can't just send out the delivery man with a soda." WTF! I was livid! I ordered something and obviously want it and if THEY made a mistake THEY should fix it, no? Basically the guy and I had a screaming argument on the phone (oh, and I could hear people eating at the restaurant in the background which means he was screaming in front of customers). I hung up the phone and swore I'd never eat there again. However, two nights ago I was driving in Englewood and really wanted to grab sashimi quickly but didn't feel like having to deal with the parking to get to the other MUCH BETTER places. So, I walk into the place and ask for 2 orders of shrimp sashimi, one order of crab sashimi (which he claimed wasn't imitation meat; it was.), and a diet coke. He puts together my order and charges me for my meal and I went home to eat it. When I open the package, there is only one order of shrimp sashimi and a piece of imitation crab. I was again, livid and so angry for going there again. This will absolutely be the last time I eat there and I am going to try to find out who owns the place and urge him to fire that guy. That guy has turned off tens of people who used to eat there because of his behavior and overall demeanor. The guy needs to be fired ASAP.

I have to go to Englewood for weekly appointments, and I always arrive between 3:30 and 4:30 with nothing to do. Fortunately, Sushi California has delicious sushi. Tragically,I have never seen worse service. Initially, I did not find anything bad about the service, but I did very much enjoy the food. After a few visits, however, the only waiter that they have there gave me very dirty looks for coming in during his lunch break, but despite my generous tips, his attempts to make me never want to return became increasingly more desperate. He stopped giving me a menu and water, and when I asked for water, there would be no ice. Once I walked in on him eating his lunch, which he of course, made me feel bad about having interrupted, and another time, I walked in on him napping in the middle of the restaurant! Eventually he told me point blank that he didn't like that I came in during his lunch hour, and I told him that he should just close the restaurant for half an hour or something if it bothers him so much that we come in. He told me "no, we're open these hours", whatever that means, and I am so irked by the fact that he's purposely trying to make customers dislike a potentially great restaurant that I am spreading the word as far as I can.
