Great lunch place! They used to celebrate old movie stars birthdays(when David Carradine showed up on his birthday one evening they wouldn't buzz hi in because he looked like a bum), while keeping Christmas decorations all year- round. I understand it was owned by 3 NY times employees.

Although now closed, and something else in its place. I remember fondly the bar my Dad once owned, in the early fifties. Jackie Gleason was a patron, as well as Vincent Price.. Ed Sullivan Theater was blocks away and one night Kim Novak sauntered in. But the best is that the bar was immortalized in the fight movie depicting Rocky Graziano rise to Champ, in "Somebody up there Likes Me" played by Paul Newman. The old Madison Square garden was nearby also, so it seemed a natural thing for a prize fighter to be coming from there.
