I recently went to the diner on my way home from a business trip in New York because a lot of my friends had very pleasing things to say about it. Honestly, I was a little nervous because I do not exactly like to try new things. Although, I was not disappointed, the food was phenomenal and the service was splendid. My glass did not stay empty for more than two minutes. To top it off, the waitresses were very polite and patient and they smiled often, generating an environment of kindness. I over all loved eating there and I would eat there more often if it was not so far out of way to drive there. I recommend that others try George's too!

Best stop for breakfast in Wellsboro. Forget that tourist trap diner in the heart of town.
Good prices, good food and friendly staff.
We eat there more often than we should.

We stopped by George's Restaurant on the way home from New York. Let me first say the food was wonderful. What I am able to comment on is a series of calamities and irritations. Our meal was $40 for lunch. There were 3 adults and one child. My father-in-law and I both had a hamburger and fries. My daughter had a grilled cheese. My mother-in-law had a gyro and salad. $40! The waitress made a mistake on the bill and when very politely mentioned to her she was insistent that it was not a mistake. She was flat out rude to us. Today I called to speak to the manager/owner to politely mention what happened as an FYI and was hung up on. When I called back thinking I had accidentally been disconnected, the woman rudely told me that "They are NOT HERE." Still trying to be as polite as possible... I asked when I could speak to them, she said tomorrow. It was quite clear that she did not want me speaking to anyone. As a result, I have decided to make it my mission to make sure the message gets out to the public since the restaurant is not interested in knowing about the poor service. This is a shame because it is a nice place with great food but we will NEVER go back! Very sad!
