I was there in early Spring 2013, for a late lunch on a Friday. I was by myself and did not experience any problem. The clam chowder and fish dinner was great! Huge portions of food and very good. I took half home and enjoyed having it the next day. No complaints. As far as the staff goes, I did not have any problem that I know of. I would go back to find out how it is today in 2015. The history and tour of The Gibson House is fascinating (aka. Mark Twain Manor). It is wonderful that it has been preserved.

Wow.

Wow...If there was Mark Twain Manor restaurant or nothing else to eat....eat nothing. This was one of the worst restaurants that you could eat at. The owner served you with plastic gloves, they could not remember who ordered what and the food..boy the portions were large enough to feed most of your family for the better portion of a week. The food was dry, smothered with grave, for those who feel they are not getting enough fat in your diet. Finally there is desert. We asked for pie from the menu, but there were few available. So....we asked for what they had and they brought it to us in to go boxes, as they heard one person ask for their desert to go, we all had it to go and when we pointed that out, they said, yeah, we went ahead and did that before I could catch her to stop her......Wow...and these people want business and a tip. I am not from this area, but I will tell you, I would never encourage anyone to sit in the freezing cold eat a months worth of fat and during the month of March which is the nation better neutrino month.....Great! We won't be back to this dive........

Interesting place... customers are allowed to explore the old house. Their Friday night all-you-can-eat perch is very good! However, if it wasn't for this huge, crispy piece of fish being so delicious, there isn't much too redeem this restaurant establishment. The service is consistently mediocre. We waited about 30 minutes for table because the hostess was completely incompetent and even let people cut ahead of us. Apparently, parties of three MUST wait for a table with three seats...a table with four seats will not suffice. We waited quite a while for a second piece of fish, but the servers sure did get our check out fast. It certainly felt like they were trying to get rid of us. They didn't even ask if we wanted desert, which was probably for the best because their chocolate peanut butter pie was very bland. Yes, the fish and also the chicken parmesan was quite tasty. But I'm not sure if dealing with the staff is all that worth it.
