Reviews of Ah Fong Kitchen
03/05/2015 - Douglas Brown
We used to frequent the Jumbo Lounge on Johnson Creek, and we still like the Jumbo Lounge. But there is something special about Ah Fong Kitchen. For one thing their Egg Foo Yong is fried golden brown, done to perfection, while the Egg Foo Yong at that Jumbo is dark, like it's got spinach or something in it, almost Mongolian. Well, my test of good Chinese is the Egg Foo Yong. So, I now go to the Ah Fong Kitchen. Once I took a group of toddlers (age 3, 4 and 6) to the Ah Fong and they made a great mess. Rice everywhere, on the carpet, on the table, on the chairs. The lady at Ah Fong only smiled, and said, "come Back." Now, I took the same group of toddlers to the Jumbo Lounge, and they made an equally horrific mess, but the lady at Jumbo gave me an exasperated look. So, that's my take. Also, the food at Ah Fong Kitchen is terrific, the sauces are so very nice.
The service could have been better the food the chicken was burnt they did not have oxtails they open at 4 we got there about 4:35 and they had no Ox ...
I love the food and of course I worked there back in 1995! Very good food!!...
If you like cold food, in an extremely noisy environment-eat here....
Troutdale General Store
Lovely, old-fashioned soda fountain, sandwiches (hot and cold) in an interesting old building. Very fair prices....
