Always meant to try this place, finally did today. great place to grab a quick Sandwich at a cheap price, and it's good to boot.

Went into try Mousies on the word of an employee of the company I was working at, and was pleasantly surprised. The turkey club was good sized, tasty, and very reasonably priced. In fact I hate to use this word because of the negative connotations that are sometimes associated with it but, the prices are downright CHEAP. For a great fresh sandwich, that they make right in front of you, not in the back where you can't see, for around the same price as drive thru, why would you go for microwaved burgers?

Surprised to find an actual "Deli" and not an Italian grinder shop in RI. Sandwich was great and the prices very reasonable. A new place to stop when working in Little Rhoddy.

Now that I’ve been practically living in Providence for several months, I’ve formed the opinion that the five foods groups that appear to be the most loved and prevalent are: Pizza, Wieners, Seafood, Chinese & Italian. I’m just calling it like it is OK?
True enough, outside of those five groups, a few other representative food options do exist, but there's really nothing else that’s in large numbers or is done that well; BBQ and Mexican being prime examples.
Anyway, one of the really big gaping holes to the Providence dining scene portfolio that I had noticed was that there aren’t many (if any) Jewish deli’s around, or so I thought. Last week while driving around the back end of the airport in Warwick I noticed Mousie’s NY Delicatessen. Of course it was too late in the evening and they’d already closed for the night, but I knew I had to set a date to travel back for lunch, I’m really glad I did!
This place is a real gem, they have friendly counter help and delicious food in an old time deli setting.
Oh sure, there are dozens of Italian deli sandwich or “grinder” shops all over town, but who’s going in there looking for a great pastrami on rye in there? No, This is the place for that, and while the corned beef was fair to decent, it was the pastrami that really stole the show. The nice thin strips of peppery flavored pastrami had a great texture that balanced just enough fat to lean and tasted wonderful. If you go, I highly recommend trying the pastrami. Snappy fresh deli pickles on the side of the sandwich topped off the serving.
I also got a side of the potato salad, which had an unusual carbonated feel in the mouth, almost like there was tonic or seltzer in the recipe. It was good, but only in moderation.
One other thing jumped out at me while I was there where the prices. They seemed pretty darn inexpensive, in fact, I'd consider them to be a great value overall. Even though the sandwiches weren't huge, they weren’t skimpy either, and they only ran about $5 apiece.
And while I still no clue where to go to get a real quality NY Style Bagel, I think I have somewhere I can get a Jewish deli meat “fix” while I’m visiting out here. And as far as I can tell, since it’s the only Jewish deli game in town, (luckily it’s a pretty good one at that) I’ll definitely be back.
