Just dined there over the weekend and it was great. We suggest that you try the ribs or rib combo...Best barbecue I have had in this area

Wonderful. We were visiting from out of town and hotel suggested. Great job, food was superb really homemade tasty, nice people too. If you have not, must try!

review_stars 02/13/2012 - Great place, wonderful food and fun!
We love it there...they have a really nice staff and their food is truly homemade. I would rather eat at a local restaurant where you do know what you are eating was homemade and good. The chains are what they are chains..so if you are traveling and read this, give it a try and you will not be dissappointed! I had the ribs, husband had their pot pie... awesome!

Excellent!!! Used to go here all the time when I was a kid and loved it, but then it went downhill and then finally closed. Now that it's reopened, Thomas' is at it's prime...so delicious!

As for the comments about the decor - very true. It's like I'm stepping back in time(but I'm certain it's intentional), including the phone booth that entertained me when I was young . I wonder if they'll bring back the car-side service...that would be cool.

Cool place, very retro. The food was fabulous, wish I could BBQ like that. Homemade cole slaw was excellent. Great service! Friendly family atmosphere. I went there on a recommendation from a friend and I'll recommend it to my friends.

If you are on a budget and want homemade good food then brings family and friends here - the food is all made on site, the servers are so friendly and it is affordable. We had a private party here andit went great , upcoming best restaurant in NEPA!

We stopped in on Black Friday and had the most amazing lunch ever!, ribs Pig Portion... wow. Memphis and a BBQ Platter - I took menus for work and we will be returning!

review_stars 10/02/2011 - An Honest Customer
Ate here just last week for the first time. The decor is very, very dated...although, it made the place rather unique. The food was very good, and I would have given it four stars, except the portions are waaaaay too small (as are the plates they are served on). I hope the ownsers read these reviews, because they really have pretty good food, and can stave off the negative reviews by simply increasing their portions by just a bit!

I was tired of the same tired burger chains, so I checked out this unique restaurant. It's more than unique, it's amazing! The barbecue sandwich is the best around bar-none! And the place looks like it was frozen in time several decades ago, even the prices don't seem to have caught up with the times. I just enjoyed hanging out there!

Love it - food is so good and we love the old style
Their prices are so affordable and all is homemade!
If you have not tried you are really missing out on a good thing.

We love the place love the family , and fun atmosphere.
When we saw that they reopened, we told our parents and took them back there where they dated.
The food is still great but they have lots of new stuff . If like different things like real good homemade ribs and delicious white chicken chili, wow you have to go there!

The best keep secret in the North-East! This gem of a restaurant is a long anticipated restoration, bringing back that great barbecue taste from times gone by. So long mass-produced, pre-packaged, flash frozen, franchise-food...HELLO Thomas'!

Obviously the previous person - Ray - has the wrong restaurant in mind cause we eat there regularily and love it - we try everything and all is super - another comment, their place is spotless and please don't knock this restaurant,if you have nothing good to say, say nothing Ray!
To all who read - Must try Thomas' the best BBQ in NEPA!odusice turn-ons

Love it .
Food is great and it beats the chains that surround all of the shopping areas so take a short ride and have a great meal, Delicious ribs and the car show was great! Keep up the good work!

Went here on a Friday at 6:00. Only one person was waiting on tables, slow service. Ordered a "BBQ burger" and fries, and my friend ordered the Memphis burger and fries. After waiting a long time for the food the waitress came with two wrong dishes. She took them and came back with a plain burger for me and my friends order. She then brought us a ketchup bottle that was just about empty. I just ate the plain burger that I was charged for a BBQ burger for and the fries since I was hungry and fed up with the place already. The burger had nothing on it (not even BBQ sauce) and was on a cheep Martins roll. The fry portion was very small. My friend was very disappointed in his meal too. Low quality cole slaw, burger, and BBQ sauce and small portions. Definitely not worth the price or the poor service. After waiting long for service 3 more women appeared afterwords to help the one waitress with other tables and bussing. Not sure where they were before. The burger was over $4, and the fires were overpriced too. The mens bathroom does not have a lock on it! My friend and I would have been better off going to Wendy's. They probably would have gotten my order right, and the burger would have cost less and would have had some topping and would have been served on a better roll! This place is not what it used to be, get good help and stop skimping on the portions. Please put a lock on your mens bathroom door too. I will stay with the better diners in the area, you should learn from them. I should not leave a place still hungry after paying $10 for the meal.

We heard about it and thought that it was so good to have a restaurant in the area with affordable dishes, food is so good and now they have BBQ ribs and Chicken!
We had our dad's birthday there and he was so surprised cause he went there years ago - same great BBQ's and shakes

review_stars 03/14/2011 - Deanna
Had lunch there with coworkers
Great food for the prices and the SOUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all homemade . They have a great chef and he knows how to do just about anything. We had the Shrimp Ceaser Salad and Sweet Potato Fries with a sweet dipping sauce - fantastic. If you have not gone there you better!

Been going there for years and now taking my kids - they love the retro feel and cozy atmosphere - we had great size portions and you cannot go anywhere for a full menu under $10.00 try and order anywhere else for 8.95 and see what you get - we are looking forward to the car cruises and curb service!

review_stars 01/31/2011 - Barb
Some constructive critcism:

1. Serve bigger portions for the price of $8.95 a platter. Not half portions of cole slaw and fries and tiny barbeques.

2. Use better quality buns for barbeques, not CHEAP hamburger buns.

3. Hire more servers for a Friday evening. Two rooms of customers and ONE server is inadequate.

4. SMILE- remember your customers are important.

First time, went with friends. Loved the Pear Salad...BBQ's are fab, I never had that taste. Keep it coming!
Looking forward to Curb Service

We LOVE it. We used to go there years ago and the grandaughter reopened it! The postions are great for the prices - very reasonable. BBQ's are the way they used to be but better!
All of the comfort foods that you want and very clean. We go weekly, should try, will be very pleased!

review_stars 01/19/2011 - Francis
Food is great, prices are great and if you can get food quality taste, low prices like this than I would like Bob or Kevin to list
The shakes are fabulous Not junk like The other guys
Go thereYou will be very pleased

review_stars 10/14/2010 - Bob
Went there for first time since they re-opened and food quality was very good, but portion was extremely small, 1/2 dish of cole slaw and 12 fries for platter. Went again and food quality was sub par and portion was smaller, only a 1/4 dish of cole slaw and cole slaw was bad. Heart breaking, should have stayed closed, no restaurant know how. Simple concept, easy menu, sell it to some one who will run it correctly.

review_stars 10/08/2010 - Kevin
This place just opened up after about 5 years of absence. They should have stayed closed. I was there two days in a row and the food was not consistent. The first day the pork BBQ was moist and tasty but lacked the famous BBQ sauce. The second day the pork BBQ was dry and still lacked the famous sauce. The portion size was also very small for $3.50. The $6.50 combo platter included 10 fries and a small side of coleslaw. Either get bigger plates to include bigger sides or decrease the price; definitely not worth $6.50. Also, we ordered a chocolate milkshake.....terrible! All it was was a chocolate milk! We asked how they made it....one scoop of vanilla ice cream, splash of milk, and a squirt of chocolate syrup.....wasn't even thick or chocolaty! Sent it back and watched the next customer order and complain about the exact same shake! This place will not make it and must change their prices, sizes, and educate their staff about ingredients!
